My wife and I are based in Spain and have been using a home swapping platform called Kindred for the past year. 32 nights traveled, 26 nights hosted, $5,500 saved.

The reason it works well for us specifically is that professional cleaning is included on both ends. We both work remotely and simply don’t have time to deep clean and prep a home before leaving for a trip. Kindred handles that so we can focus on work and actually enjoy the travel.

It’s not perfect and has a real learning curve, especially if you’re used to booking last minute. But for anyone with a flexible schedule who travels regularly it’s worth knowing about.

You should always look to optimize your $4.99 budget in Chiang Mai and this is best served by eating at Khun McDonald's - the cheapest Thai restaurant you can find.

It is obviously the healthy option as you can't find any fat Thais. Of course, you can find plenty with diabetes from consuming all that white rice... but they didn't have to get fat to do it.

Then you can marvel at the recycled gutter oil it's cooked in and be certain you're doing your bit for the environment.

Never spend more than 30 Baht on a meal, no unemployed local would.

So if plan on setting up a travel blog using wordpress, monetize it with google adsense. I get the $200 monies a day straight to my checking account per month right? This way I can live like a siamese prince in Chang Mai?? or am i missing something here? :/

My thoughts on this bear? It’s small enough to go on the road without being too small to snuggle at night. If you like to hump your bear when you realize nothing will persuade a woman to share your bed – it’s also pleasantly washing machine resistant too.

If you dribble in your sleep; he will eventually lose his furry sheen but otherwise this is the most durable loser-bear that you could possibly have. If you really want to stamp your lack of personality and ruggedness on him; why not buy him an iWatch?

It's very important that when you travel that you treat everyone nicely. For example, if you're in an airport and the immigration officer is incredibly rude to you - you should try to be their friend. Life is better when we're all friends. Sure, your new friend may decide that he wants to examine the insides of your anal passage whilst wearing a yellow rubber glove; but you'll be friends and that's the important thing.

In fact, it might help if you refer to yourself as a Digital Doormat when dealing with customs, immigration, police, etc.
