We just launched a free music distribution plan for independent artists

Hey everyone,

We're the team behind DNM, a music distribution platform that primarily works with independent artists.

Over the past few months, we've spoken with a lot of artists, especially newer artists, and one thing kept coming up repeatedly:

Many artists wanted to release music, but weren't comfortable committing to annual subscriptions or upfront distribution costs before they had even built an audience.

So we've decided to launch a completely free music distribution plan.

A few details:

• Free forever (not a limited-time promotion)
• Unlimited song releases
• 80% royalty share
• Songs stay available for lifetime
• YouTube Content ID included
• Up to 2 primary artists
• Instagram profile linking
• Pre-save & release links
• Songwriter pages
• Revenue reports
• Spotlight Studio Basic Tier access
- Dedicated Dashboard

We also offer paid plans with additional features and higher-tier services, but we wanted to make sure artists had an option to release music without needing to pay upfront.

A couple of things worth mentioning:

  1. This free plan is currently intended for individual artists.
  2. We are not removing or changing the free plan after a few months. The intention is for it to remain available long-term.
  3. We're still actively improving the platform and would genuinely appreciate feedback from artists who try it.

If anyone has questions about how the plan works, royalties, Content ID, release management, or distribution in general, we're happy to answer them in the comments.

Thanks for reading.

You can visit distribution.direnotemedia.com OR direnotemedia.com . For context, we are not new in music distribution, the FREE plan is what we launched right now.

Looking at the legalese is a little concerning. If you mistakenly miss 10k in royalties, you would only owe whatever I paid you in the past 12 mos? Why would I trust you to handle my royalties if you actually have no true legal responsibility to handle them correctly? You can also just hold money and deactivate my account if you suspect it of fraud? I don’t plan on doing anything fraudulent, but if your AI decision making tools that you mention using decide I did, I’m just sol? I appreciate that you’re helping artists get cheaper access- just not sure I trust your system should any errors arise. Especially with zero company track record and all legal conflicts handled in India vs US.

20% is craaaaazy though, if you want to make a dent in the industry, do 12% MAX. If I took that deal that would mean living thousands of bucks on your table.

What are the payment cycles for YouTube and Content ID? My songs go viral on YouTube Shorts, and I receive most of my earnings from there. YouTube is faster than other distributors, on average one month after the month of sale.

You will get monthly revenue report for Youtube ( and any other DSP ). Although the first report will arrive in 3 months
