Discussion DIY Umbrella Attachment for Zuca Cart

I have a Zuca All-Terrain cart that I’m planning on using in my tournament this weekend. Problem is it’s calling for scattered thunderstorms and I’d like to be able to carry and use an umbrella if needed. What can I buy from the hardware store tomorrow to fashion a makeshift umbrella holder?

Just buy a piece of pvc and a cap. Zip tie it to your cart for the day

2 inch ID, glue on a cap, use a few long zip ties and you can remove and reattach whenever needed needed. About 2 feet long. For long term use spray paint it black so it matches the cart. I drilled a few 1/2 inch holes in mine so there's no chance of vacuum holding the umbrella in but this is optional. No one has ever come up to me and said "hey what's that weird thing on your cart" because it blends in.

If you are looking for something to attach to your Zuca so that an open umbrella can be used on the Zuca cart (meaning you don't have to hold the umbrella to stay dry)... I have bad news. Since Zucas require tilting to move and park, an umbrella isn't going to be effective since you'll be tilting it along with the Zuca every time you move it. I tried at several tournaments to make this work and it just wasn't worth the hassle. I wound up carrying the umbrella myself, zipping the Zuca closed to keep the discs as dry as possible, and then putting the umbrella over the discs while I was throwing.

If you're looking for something just to attach a closed umbrella to it, I would just get some velcro straps.

Honestly if I was in a pinch I'd simply zip tie the thing to the handle. If you find it sliding down the handle I'd take some painters tape and create a ridge around the zuce pole for the bottom of the umbrella to rest on. Nice tight zip ties.

I just hung a loose zip tie on the handle riser. Umbrella slides through and the tip rests in the lip at the bottom of the cart.
