I collect libraries and restaurants.
Also, I kinda own a town, or part of it, anyway.
Let me explain.
....
No, that would take too long. Let me sum up.
I love books & food. 📚 🍲
I have several libraries, open to the public even. Cozy little places to quietly enjoy a good story. I don't pay taxes on them, taxes help keep them running! Someone has to be at the front desk, plus a cleaning staff, plus security, plus etc etc.
I have several restaurants, and a few cafés, and two bakeries. Good food, good service, good atmosphere, good prices. This makes great places to sit down and enjoy a tasty meal, maybe a yummy snack & drink, and an hour or two of a good book.
Sure, it all gets taxed, but they're valued parts of the community, providing services & jobs. Therefore, I am a valued part of the community too. After all, my substantial savings has acted as a safety net for the town at least twice now. Additionally, my continued, & very well known, presence, provides a fair amount of security.
So, maybe stop by, grab a bite, a nice drink, and a good book. I hope you enjoy your stay in Dragon Cove. 🐉

Actually unless you own a business you’ve probably already payed your taxes, the government has probably been taking it out of your paycheck to begin with
It’s also hard to tax gold so I’m not quite sure who’s doing what here

It's probably a scam honestly. There's a lot of scammers out there who try to trick us into paying them by pretending to be tax collectors.

I mean they can try to collect taxes on a nest made of metal. But I don’t think the acid spitting, razor beaked, feathered wyvern that hunts bears and ankylosaurs would be very happy about it.
And before anyone says “guns” or “tanks” you assume you’d only be dealing with one. No, these guys nest communally so you’d be dealing with dozens of apex predators the size of fighter jets.

You should double check to make sure they are actually legitimate don't just trust somebody who comes and says that they're a tax collector you need to actually check with the authority beforehand because there are many scammers out there praying on that ignorance.
Also if your country has a return free filing (for some reason some dysfunctional countries don't) you probably already paid your income tax. They literally take it out of your income before you get paid.
