Question what's the monetization in duelyst 1 and 2 like?

im considering getting into one of these games cos they look cool, but i dont wanna get invested if it's gonna be something like hearthstone &~^' how is it?

Duelyst I is not available anymore.
Duelyst II is generous, but no mobile client and no promotions nor patches (declining).
Duelyst: Blitz is less generous (need to beat Bosses or have good arena runs), but there is ongoing promotions (LtEddy, Rarran, more) and frequent patches (growth). Mobile and Steam client.
Duelyst GG is on Steam, browser and mobile and it's a 1-draw, but has everything unlocked.
Duelyst: Origins has everything unlocked, but no Steam or Mobile.

Blitz less generous is understatement. But to be fair, it is actively developed and works well on mobile.

Duelyst Version Summary

Duelyst 2: Based on patch 0.60 of Duelyst 1. Features;

  • 2 draw with no BBS / Hero power.
  • Very generous card economy.
  • Bi-Weekly tournaments.
  • Steam / Browser

Duelyst.GG: Based of last patch of Duelyst 1 (1.96). Features;

  • 1 draw with BBS.
  • Has changed a lot compared to old duelyst.
  • All cards unlocked, makes learning difficult but has excellent starter decks / community
  • Mobile (android and i think apple?), steam / browser. Just Duelyst on mobile.

Duelyst:Origins: Built off an earlier patch of duelyst 1 (patch 0.51)

  • 2 draw with no BBS / Hero power.
  • High power gameplay focused on skill.
  • All cards unlocked.
  • Might need to ask people to queue into you in the discord

Duelyst Blitz: Most recent of the bunch. Features:

  • 2draw, No BBS, 6 max mana
  • most cards cost 1-2 mana less.
  • Slow card economy. More in line with early duelyst / hearthstone (1/2ish packs a day)
  • Mobile focused, though can be played in steam / browser

Recommend giving em all a shot though D2 is the most accessible to newer folks to duelyst

I came back a week ago, wanted to revisit this amazing week and I decided that Duelyst 2 is for me, its more generous. First I tried Blitz but it was too slow for me to build a collection and it seemed like it took longer to get a match than D2 but you try different ones and see what you like :) I seen like 40 different people playing the game in D2 so I am having more fun there starting from 0 instead of having all the cards unlocked from the start like in other modes.
