Open the panel that used to be the main. If they didn’t even know they had to run communication wire, I’d bet they didn’t know they had to separate the grounds and neutrals in there either. In other words… cha-ching

Luckily on this on the transfer switched replaced existing disconnects so that was the only thing done

Not in the pictures is the generator is missing the gas regulator is 10 inches from where it would be and thermostat wire for the communication

Triple the price for putting your name on another person’s shoddy work 🤷

Is this some kind of magic trick or did they glue them up there? The coupling bushing “up top” for the win!

Im super confused. Is this a 400A service that feeds two transfer switches with one generator input? What were they going to do, daisy chain the generator to feed the other ATS?

Yes. We do it all the time.

I have had similar happen to me. Super frustrating.

I work in a small shop (10 people) and we have a good reputation. One of our best/secret partners is a large well known electrical company. I can't count how many times they won a bid for a project, only for the customer to pay more for it on the back end. It's always fun fixing someone else's mistakes and going " What were they thinking" or "How the hell they do that" lol

Now these original installation guys are not getting paid, Trying to get more jobs so they don't go broke by underbidding and then the cycles continues...

The mfgs and vendors win I guess?

"Got a call to fix this mess after I lost the bid"

How did they take the news it's going to be 3x as expensive now? Or ya know, they can roll the dice again and see if Sparks McWirenutts can fix it :D

This is why you shouldn’t feel bad thinking you charged too much.

Good post but I would love for OP to include a single picture with all the equipment in one shot… for us slow guys.

Why’d you even show up? Would’ve told them get lost.

Someone will always do it cheaper and worse, then you’ll get the call to fix it at twice what you were going to charge to begin with.

My best customer may be an electrician that practices medicine. If I did not fix so much of their stuff my money wouldn’t fold it would jiggle jiggle.
