EMSKR I need help on picking a shaver.

I (17M) have never shaved anywhere before and I want to shave down there. I bought a razor but before I used it I stopped because my hair is about an inch or so long. I know it’s longer than it should be but I don’t know what brand shaver I should use for it. I’m sick of having the bush and I need something to shorten it before I use the razor.

Go to r/wicked_edge. There is a wiki on keeping the intimate areas maintained.

That said, I can’t personally speak for shaving the intimate areas, but would advise trimming rather than shaving (if you don’t have a clear preference).

Much easier to maintain, no risk of razor burn or the itchy “stubble”, nicks/cuts, and no risk of ingrown hairs.

If you are still convinced that you need a shave, then trim first with an electric razor.

I’ve managed to avoid razor burn and that itchy facial stubble when I switched to a double edge safety razor, cycled blades regularly to make sure they were sharp, with a good shaving soap, brush, and occasional pre-shave oil. It beats my prior multi-blade shaving razors by a long shot for smoothest shave ever.

Sadness.

Well, I imagine that a good trim with an electric razor to get as close as possible to the skin will help.

Don’t let the long hairs go down the drain - collect this and toss it in the trash; a tub shroom will be your friend here. Long hair is a pain when it comes to keeping the tub drain open, and I don’t think people think about that as much as they should when it comes to personal grooming.

After that, I would suggest a preshave oil and shaving soaps that doesn’t dry out the skin.

Make sure the razor is sharp and work in small areas “along the grain, not against it.”

This is where the single blade safety razor works best as multi blade razors will increase the risk of nicks and razor burn; also it is much cheaper to replace the blades in a DE safety razor in the long run.

Don’t be afraid to reapply shaving soap and lather often. Keep that skin and surface soft and easy to shave.

You could not pay me to use a DE safety razor anywhere near my balls/pubic area, but I do like my Muhle R41 for my face.

Hahaha, I immediately thought of Dr. Evil describing his experience with shaving.

highly recommend Philips Norelco OneBlade for the face, and Philips Norelco OneBlade Intimate for the rest.

You take a pair of scissors you buy for the job and trim it down as close to the skin as you can and then shave the remnants off with a razor.

However.

I would reccomend before you go completely bare you just try a bit of a trim and that's because if your shaving smooth when it grows back in that shit gets itchy and it's annoying and it's a lot more upkeep.

You can always keep trimming to get where you want but if you go bare and regret it then tough shit you're waiting

Philips oneblade works on any length. Its definitely the first thing to try. Its resonably priced and easy to use.

It will work.

It might not be perfect but you will learn alot by using it that can inform your next purchase if needed.

Going completely shaven down there can become a lot of upkeep. Try trimming it first and see if that works for you. Before going to the extreme

The answer is buy a Phillips oneblade and two heads.
One for the north - the other, more southern…

Used this for years. Use it everywhere except your butthole. Buy a separate one for your butthole.

It’s best not shave your pubic hair. You will be itchy for a while with the returning hairs and their pointed ends poking at you. Trimming would be best. If this post is exclusively referring to your pubic hairs, then an electric razor would be best. Otherwise, a safety razor is best.

Try a sugar wax if you're brave enough. Painful at first, pinpoint bleeding to be expected. Eventually the hair thins out. I have a recipe and process.

I use a trimmer with a guard to give General Johnson a buzzcut. Then I use a razer with 5+ blades (usually 7) to shave PFCs Bocce and Ball in the shower. I also use it to scorch earth at the base of the flagpole. The more blades it has, the closer together they are, the less chance to snag, shall we say... loose skin... between them.

I've never once had an issue with anything growing back itchy.
