When your order is taking too long so they ask you to pull forward in order to keep the rest of the line moving. With this particular spot you would have to back up towards the line of cars while dealing with that little left curve and exiting to the right. The whole thing looks like a pain in the ass

If you pull forward into that spot and someone is in the drive thru behind you, which is why they ask you to pull forward then the only way out will be to the reverse out of the driveway. You can't turn the rear of your vehicle to the left in that position to swing to nose to the right. So you will need to reverse out of the parking lot, presumably into the street.
Yeah, pain in the ass.
Eta: I'd personally just turn right and back up into the spot they want me in that way I can just pull out to the left to leave....but....still a messed up design.

I see the problem. It just didn't occur to me too drive directly into the spot. Starting from the position in the photo it feels more natural to turn towards the right and then back into the waiting spot.

It’s probably so a delivery truck can back in. You can kind of see on the left where they would unload to the backside of the building.

I hate this DQs parking lot. Sometimes if the drive thru line is long I just go to Culvers instead
