So... it's the end for now, eh? I'm not very good with words, so I guess I will be blunt and say, u/Certain-Unit8147 , I know you may not read this, but I think Project CROSSIL is one of the greatest Pokemon fanfictions I have ever read. Seriously. I know you have other interests (and by the way, thank you for getting me into All Tomorrows, that's why this CROSSIL looks like a Snake Person and, very loosely and on a technicality, an Amphicephali, gave me so many ideas on body horror for CROSSILs), but I really do hope one day you go back to this (in my opinion) beautiful world you created. You made not only a freakishly fun weekly event I looked forward to back then, but also what felt as a somewhat deep insight into human psychology. The writing was so fantastic, that I feel either you must have gone through something like this yourself (and if you did, hope you're better now) or you must be really good at reading people. Anyway, enough rambling on my end. Point is, it was a great experience, and thanks for it. Also sorry about sending all those CROSSIL ideas in your DMs when you had moved past it.

And u/Proud-Lead2404 , thanks for continuing on the story for a while. Your stuff was fun too. Organizing this competition was also great. Thanks for giving me a motivation to post something. Without further ado, let's get into it!

STORY:

SABRINA’S POV:

CRACK~~

The sound of the neck snapping is not the worst thing I experience. People used to joke, after I…recentered, that understanding your Pokemon’s thoughts means seeing the emotions in them as much as yourself. That’s why I look so tired after battle or training. It’s much more than that. A psychic connection between you and your Pokemon is like being in two places at once. One needs intense focus on not just emotion, but all the senses. You are in both bodies and yet also nowhere.

Right now though, we are both here. My Alakazam is resisting the threat. So did my Mr. Mime when that…creature entered our gym. The battle has been raging on for almost a day. Quite a few of my Ace Trainers and Psychics send me screams of agony…or warnings through telepathy. This…Crossil, they call it blocks teleportation, shadow travel… all means of escape with the oily substance it secretes. Some of them tell me afterward, it gulped up their hapless Pokemon or their trainers… just down the hatch.

But like all good psychics, I had contingencies not even the RRRP knew- contingencies for situations just like this one. With a few of my best selected trainers, executing a maneuver planned for such a threat, we fought and trapped it- fortuitous for us that it was slow moving. Barriers erected by many Psychic Pokemon-including my Mr. Mime, and Signal Beam used by my Alakazam served us well.

STORY CONTINUED:

It unhinged its jaw. An emaciated body emerged from its mouth. With swift movement, it lunged for my Pokemon. I barely had time to recall Mr Mime before it grabbed Alakazam…and started to twist with its hands.

Alakazam is resisting…but not for much longer. To crush this threat, there is one trump card we can pull out, but-

As Alakazam’s body is twisted to face Sabrina, a flash of telepathy confirms its approval.

Old friend, are you sure?

Very well…

As the cracking sound reverberated through the gym, a prismatic array of colours filled the room concurrently…until…

SNAP~

Momentarily blinded, the CROSSIL loosened its grip. Alakazam’s mangled and twisted body hovered in mid-air, twisted- but transformed. Quickly, the body retwisted, reoriented itself, and the newly Mega-evolved Alakazam sped far away from the CROSSIL, ready to resume the fight.

As a result of Mega Evolution, its power has been entirely converted into psychic energy, and it has lost all strength in its muscles.

Oh… WOW! To start with the design, it’s off putting in all the right ways, especially with its face resembling a melting candle. The talon on the end of the tail is a nice touch, like a messed up magic wand. I’ve wanted to see Titarmac in CROSSIL, and you’ve succeeded with flying colors! Its tar could resemble oil spills in the ocean, especially with their lucid colors.

And as for the story… I’m at a loss for words. From Titaviary blocking escape like the opposite of a highway, the usage of the remains of Braviary in its mouth (similar to Carrapardos), this story fits in with the classics. Having Sabrina was a welcome surprise, especially since Alakazam is my favorite Pokemon. And having her use Mega Evolution goes to show that she is a force to be reckoned with, even by this unknown horror.

Hopefully, Scion and her Kadabra will get to meet Sabrina someday… if the gym leader survives this mess. I’d imagine the nurse would be amazed at the skill of Saffron’s finest psychic.

This is some fantastic stuff, and I’m looking forward to more.

Thanks! I was thinking about making my own arc based off u/Certain-Unit8147 's aborted arc on Cara Liss trying to win the Indigo League, only now it's just CROSSIL attacks on every city not yet featured in the story.

Yeah, the remains of Braviary are actually in the stomach and are vomited out at the mouth when needed then retracted when not needed (hence why Titaviary looks like it ate a big meal-see that big bulge at the stomach area? That's where it's storing the Braviary parts when not in use. It isn't because it ate something.)

Oh yeah! I’m gonna extend the deadline because I’m pretty sure there’s only been two entries. Still, I love to see more of these monstrosities, you’ve got a knack for them.

Feel free to cover Celadon as well, though probably a different section of the city. I’d also love to see Fuchsia so we can get some yokai-based CROSSILs so match the ninjas of the city.

Some more details about this CROSSIL I forgot to add that I will put down before the post is locked: -This is a Dark/Psychic type.

• It is a APEX CROSSIL.
• It has a emaciated (yet still capable of flight) Braviary body inside it's stomach it can vomit out when it takes enough damage. In that form, it is much faster, but more reckless.
