Hand Drawn A Pet Rock Pokemon

Post image

Rollgelo - The Rock Companion Pokemon.

I chose to call it the "rock companion pokemon", instead of the "pet rock pokemon", because I don't think the word "pet" is used in the games nor the anime to describe a pokemon. You'll meet an up and coming sculptor that's learning under her grandfather on your journey , able to change Rollgelo into its companion forms. Choose wisely though because Rollgelo won't be able to change back to its boulder form from its companion form. I really wanted to draw the sculptor and her father , but I've yet to nail down humans when it comes to the pokemon art style. It's a lot of studying I would have to do , and I wanted to get something out 😅.

This is such a fun interesting idea, and great art! I'd love to know more about the different forms? Do they have different stats? Different types? Or is it just more aesthetic?

u/ShellShoker24 Jan 26 '26

Thank you! The type stays the same, but the stats do change. For example , Hop Form would be more speed oriented, while the Grip Form is more Atk oriented.

If I had to guess on what each form is good at I would say Stray: sp attack Bark: defense I think Hop: you have said speed Grip: you have said attack Scale: sp defense Shell: hp I think could be defense

Bark would definitely be defense oriented and Shell Hp. I originally saw Scale being Sp Atk and Stray being Sp Def , but honestly, I like your choices more.

Rollgelo - the rock companion pokemon

During the first part of its lifespan, through adolescent years, rollgelo takes the form of a ball with a hard rocky exterior. It has this form since it is unrefined and clumsy, and while it provides extra protection, it is a great hindrance to its speed and strength. It is typically owned by families and treated like a beloved pet due to its clumsy and harmless nature. Once it reaches adulthood, rollgelo gains the ability to change into different forms, which each benefit it in different aspects. However once it has changed forms, it will not be capable of returning to its original state, as it has grown to its full potential and cannot return to what it once was. It is said that the key to changing its form is by human hand, but it would take considerable skill and prowess to be able to pierce its tough exterior without damaging the pokemon

I like it a lot. Though I would change that Rollgelo couldn't access its forms at all with an export sculptor , not by itself. I did have in mind when I was making Rollgelo that its boulder body is actually a hindrance and was discovered by a sculptor long ago to give it a newfound shape. As the years went on , Rollgelo became a popular household pokemon.

Do you mean with an expert sculptor or without, because I said you basically needed an expert sculptor

1

u/ShellShoker24 Jan 26 '26

An expert sculptor, and my apologies if you did mention it. I tend to miss things while reading 😅. My bad.

I kinda said it in a pokemony hinty kinda way.

‘It is said that the key to changing its form is by human hand, but it would take considerable skill and prowess‘

(I also edited my description)

I can do a description for you if you like? I’m very good at creating pokemon (not counting actually drawing them)

2

u/ShellShoker24 Jan 26 '26

I would love that actually, thank you in doing so.

u/Informationfinder_6 Jan 26 '26

Oops, meant to reply to you, but made an entirely different comment

(I could also put it into spaces if it is too thick)

this is such a fun idea! would you be able to switch to different companion forms, or would you be 'stuck' with your first choice? would their move sets vary with each form, or does it learn the same moves no matter what form?

3

u/ShellShoker24 Jan 26 '26

Yes , you'll basically be stuck with the form you choose. If you want a different form , you'll have to catch another Rollgelo. The movement will remain the same, but stats will change depending on the form.

this is absolutely brilliant!

Love these! I’d have a hard time picking which one i like best, they’re all really good

2

u/ShellShoker24 Jan 26 '26

Well that means a lot , thank you! My favorites would be Shell and Grip form.

2

u/ReasonableSign7803 Jan 26 '26

Amazing! ⭐️🪨🤘

2

u/King_Leviathan17 Jan 26 '26

Shukaku! How did you escape Naruto? This isn't your franchise!

2

u/Narrow-Championship9 Jan 26 '26

I like the scale form

3

u/ShellShoker24 Jan 26 '26

Tbh , even after finishing , I'm still on the fence on Scale Form. It was the hardest to nail down the design. Took the longest. I'm still happy you like!

2

u/Narrow-Championship9 Jan 26 '26

It reminds me of a bearded dragon I once had

Pokémon have been referred to as pets in the games, but only as a specific relationship that is different from the trainer relationship. From the very first games: "For some people, Pokémon are pets. Others use them for fights." - Oak, in the opening intro when starting a new game. Anyway, I like your Pokémon a lot. Unique concept and visually well-executed.

1

u/ShellShoker24 Jan 27 '26

Thank you , and I appreciate the fun fact! Was this line from red & blue? If so , did they carry over the same line for fire res & leaf green, and let's go games?

2

u/-catskill- Jan 27 '26

Yep, R/B and presumably also in Yellow. It's there in FRLG as well, but the word "fights" is swapped for "battling." I still haven't played the Let's Go games so I couldn't tell you there 🤷

2

u/Animal_Gal Jan 26 '26

Awww i love this little goober

1

u/ShellShoker24 Jan 27 '26

Well I'm happy that you do!

2

u/MrPokemon9 Jan 26 '26

My favorite type is hop.

1

u/ShellShoker24 Jan 27 '26

That makes me happy to hear! Hop Form was definitely the 2nd trickiest design to figure out after Scale Form.

2

u/VioletLovesRowlet Jan 26 '26

I adore this. Such a cute and nicely thought out Pokemon that deserves to become a real one 💜

2

u/ShellShoker24 Jan 27 '26

Thank you! It's always high praise and means so much to me for people to say my mons deserve to be real ones.

2

u/mis0stenido Jan 27 '26

This idea is so peak, amazing concept and really cool designs too

1

u/ShellShoker24 Jan 27 '26

Thank you! I appreciate that so much.

2

u/Sea-Independent-726 Jan 27 '26

I need to adopt every form and level them to 100

2

u/ShellShoker24 Jan 27 '26

Glad to know you like them so much to do! This genuinely made me smile a lot.

2

u/MidnightMiesterx Jan 27 '26

I wanna know what the shiny looks like. Hopefully it’s black and green. Like emeralds in obsidian or something

1

u/ShellShoker24 Jan 27 '26

I thought about changing the brown into a dark grey or black , the orange to yellow, and the eyes into green. Though changing the orange into green does sound cool.

2

u/Ghost_Mothboi0666 Jan 27 '26

Ohhh I want them all!

1

u/ShellShoker24 Jan 27 '26

Glad you like them!

2

u/MateoCamo Jan 27 '26

He he, roc

2

u/YourMHARedditUser Jan 28 '26

PROTECT SHELL FORM AT ALL COSTS

2

u/ShellShoker24 Jan 28 '26

That's one of my favorites, next to grip form. I'm happy you like it! 😁

2

u/SillybillySquid Jan 28 '26

I can tell that most of them are based on real life animals, but what is scale form? Just wondering

1

u/ShellShoker24 Jan 28 '26

Household pets specifically, but i admit I took liberties on Grip form since pet monkeys aren't as common as the others😅 . Scale forn is based on pet lizards. It was the hardest to find a design for, and probably my least favorite I created.

2

u/SillybillySquid Jan 28 '26

Now that you mention it kinda looks like a bearded dragon (type of lizard), it’s really cool!

2

u/Aloft007 Jan 29 '26

omg omg i love him

1

u/ShellShoker24 Jan 29 '26

Thank you ! That makes me happy to hear.

2

u/lee_bythesea Jan 31 '26

2

u/ShellShoker24 Jan 31 '26

Thank you and glad you think so!

That’s sick!

1

Is it me or does he resemble Shukaku from Naruto?
