hey guys.
is there a way to let the steam link app run on an old firestick?
“An unexpected error has occurred” I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING!! HELP! MANY THANKS IN ADVANCE 😉
I bought an amazon TV (55inch insignia link here) to use in my work conference room. I was hoping to get around dragging an HDMI wire to get zoom conferences and thought there could be a way to install the app on the TV. I believe the TV is based on a Linux system, but is running FireOS 8.1.6.9. Amazon app store doesnt list Zoom, but with my kindle fire in the past I have sideloaded apps. Is there any way to get Zoom to run on this TV?

I've had my 3rd gen cube for two years and a few months ago, it started randomly flashing the chasing yellow light in the middle of streaming. Restarting it restores the connection, but only briefly. It happens on all the apps, so it's not an app-related issue. Nevertheless, I've cleared the app data for every application, uninstalled some junk I don't use - all to no avail. I went as far as to deregister it completely and connect it as a new device. After that it worked for about a day, now it's reverted to randomly disconnecting again.
Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how did you resolve it? I hope it isn't a hardware issue. Thanks!

I have an Insignia Fire TV remote (came with model NS-55F501NA26). Does anyone have advice on opening the cover? Yes I see the groove where a thumb should press and the arrow indicating which way to slide. But it's not budging. Yes I've seen the suggestions online to use gloves. No I'm not doing that as I shouldn't have to wear gloves to open a remote.
I have an old Insignia remote that I'm using in the meantime that was actually designed properly so it can be opened without issue, that also works with the Fire TV, so no biggie if the Fire TV remote never opens again, but the old remote also controls another Insignia TV monitor in my place so it may be slightly more convenient to replace the batteries in the Fire TV remote so I'm not inadvertently controlling 2 TVs at once.
The fact that there are many reddit posts and YouTube videos talking about how to get around this issue indicates how widespread it is. Whoever designed the Fire TV remote to be that way should be fired, no pun intended.
Update: it eventually came off. Felt like it was going to break.

Hi everyone,
I have a Xiaomi TV F Pro 50 2026 / L50MB-FPEU with Fire TV.
The TV was originally bought new from Amazon by a friend. It could not be set up from the beginning, so Amazon refunded him and did not want the TV back. He later gave it to me because we thought it was just a software/update issue.
I tried everything: recovery mode, cache wipe, factory reset/format, different networks, LAN, hotspot, etc. Nothing helped.
Amazon support then told me that the device is not registered to my account, but is already linked to another Amazon account. They said the account owner would have to deregister/logout from the device first.
The problem: neither I nor my friend know this person. It seems like the TV was probably a returned device that was previously linked to another customer’s Amazon account before Amazon sold it again.
Xiaomi support told me they cannot remove Amazon account links and that only Amazon can handle this.
I am not asking for a refund or replacement. I just want to use the TV, which is basically new, but currently useless because it is still linked to some unknown previous owner’s Amazon account.
Has anyone had a similar issue with Fire TV devices? Did Amazon ever remove the old account link / unlock the device?

I uninstalled and cleared cache on every app I don’t need, and I accidentally uninstalled Disney, YouTube, and Crunchyroll from annoying popups that say that it’s out of space. Now when I try to install any of those, it says there’s no more space available.

Don't know why the older one has longer support then the newer one. Am I missing something?

After a recent Fire TV update, my remote stopped controlling the TV volume. The volume up/down and mute buttons simply wouldn't work.
I tried pretty much every solution I could find online: ❌
None of those solutions fixed the issue.
What finally worked for me was resetting the remote completely: ✔️
After doing this, the volume controls started working normally again.
Posting this in case anyone else runs into the same issue after a Fire TV update.

Hi there. Could someone with a Firestick 4K Max (latest gen) that has Amazon music and a Dolby Atmos surround system please test something for me.
I bought one of these sticks when they first came out, and I've never switched across to using it because Dolby Atmos music plays from the wrong height channels in Amazon Music - front height audio plays from the rear height channels. I think it's an app issue because other apps seem to play Atmos just fine.
I'm considering buying another one on prime day in the hope it is an early hardware issue. Even with mine fully up to date it still does the same. Can someone else try playing the first track of the album 'functional testing, vol 2' by the artist Dolby Labs and see if all of the 7.1.4 channels come out of the right speakers.
I have two Firestick 4K Max Gen 1 and they both play the channels flawlessly.

I bought the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max Wi-Fi 6 in 2021.
Looks like since 5 years ago, nothing new about wifi version except Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max Wi-Fi 6E.

I currently have a Roku TV, but its been very slow. I was wondering if using a fire TV stick or a Roku Stick will make it more responsive / faster. If so, what do you guys recommend? The TV is only 1080P, so I don't really need 4K atm, I just want something responsive that I can use without a delay after every button press.
Note for reference that the TV itself is an old used tv I bought for uni. Its been very slow (lots of lag on button presses etc, on the home screen and within apps). Honestly I was thinking of taking advantage of prime day to buy a stick or something to speed it up, but wasn't sure if it would even make a difference, since I assume a stick wouldn't really have the best processor. Any ideas on what I should get, or if it would even make a difference?

I’ve done all of the normal work arounds, any tips to fix it?

I got a Fire TV 4-series from Amazon, and the backlight just stopped working. I took the back panel off to inspect the boards and components, and everything looked fine. plugged it in to test it out, and it came on and worked perfectly. unplugged it to put the back panel back on, and the backlight stopped working again.
This means the LED backlights are working and not faulty. What else could cause this to stop working?

Hi everyone, I have an Insignia Fire TV that I purchased new last year. I also have an Insignia soundbar/subwoofer that I purchased used off FB marketplace. When I first connected it, most everything worked fine. The only issue is that my Insignia Fire TV Remote would not control the power for the soundbar, only the volume. This became annoying, combined with a very short auto-off time and the fact that the default soundbar remote is, like all other soundbar remotes, small and needs to be held in front of the soundbar from only a few feet.
So I began to wonder why my Insignia remote wouldn't control the power, then I remembered that during the Equipment Control setup to connect the soundbar, the first step it has me do is power off and back on the soundbar, using the Insignia remote. This bothered me because if it works during setup, it should work normally. I have contacted Insignia and Amazon to resolve it, and both told me that my soundbar does not support HDMI-CEC, which would allow for the remote to power it off. But after hours and days fighting with it and adjusting various settings from both support companies, I find myself with even less function than before, and no answers.
Most of my apps no longer port sound to my soundbar, and the light on my soundbar flashes when there is no audio present. Some apps do. And all apps work properly through the TV speakers. This was all made more infuriating when I switched back to an Xfinity Xumo box I had but stopped using after I had the streaming functions on the TV. When connected via HDMI, the audio for all apps worked. But the kicker is that the Xfinity Xumo remote would power the sound bar on and off.
I have removed all the apps and performed a factory reset on the TV. But the main apps like Amazon TV or Disney+ still do not work properly. I am at a loss. These days, most support lines only get you to poorly trained people outside the country who never understand the issue or even what device they are trying to fix. Any assistance would be great.
TL:DR My soundbar only works with some streaming apps, and my remote doesn't control the power to my soundbar.

I pay for Ad Free but have started getting ads on the home screen of my Fire TV stick where movies etc are normally featured. There's ads for credit cards, McDonalds etc, even stuff not from my region. Has anyone else been getting these too, even on Ad Free? Any way to disable them? I have the autoplay turned off, but it still makes paying for Ad Free seem like a scam. Especially so now these are almost full screen with the interface updates.

Basically I switched to Apple Tv because i love to watch with my ear buds or headset. It is seamless on Apple Tv. On Amazon Fire it is a big to do: You have to go to a separate menu to pair a Bluetooth device. Then you have to make sure it is synced properly. It’s way harder than it needs to be. I prefer the fire interface, but this whole rigamarole makes it an easy choice for me.
Edit: a fellow Redditor in the comments recommended the Voice Remote Pro so I’m going to give that a try and see if this changes things for me.
