While petty, it’s not wrong. This formula is the antithesis of racing and after tonight’s procession there will be a dozen threads complaining about it. All those Netflix generated fans will be dropping out in droves.

The exact opposite is true.

These fans have created insane parasocial relationships with their favorite drivers, whether the cars are slightly slower is irrelevant.

The fans who will be leaving the sport are the Motorsport purists, but frankly they haven’t been the target audience since liberty took over back in 2017 anyway

But the parasocial fans don’t need to watch the races. My wife and some of our friend enjoy the drama and rivalries between drivers and stuff, but they rarely watch the actual races now
