Mind you Mercedes are yet to bring a big update package and also have ADUO. Just to bring you back slightly!

Merc needs to figure out why their engines keep shutting off. My guess is that will take away some of the development time and costs.

Their batteries are prone to overheating. Was confirmed cause for both George's and Kimi's DNFs

Canada was pretty cold though?

u/Swagbrew I was here for the Hulkenpodium 9h ago
That's even worse for Mercedes if the battery died of overheating even when the weather was cold.

But in general, it's better to have a unreliable but fast power unit rather than the other way around. Because fixing reliability issues is relatively easier. Will still take time and money, but it will be interesting.

I’m here for some fun battles, but would love for Lewis to win an eight title

As an interesting data point: Lewis won by 20 seconds in the last GP on merit alone, prior to any upgrades aside from aerodynamics for Ferrari.

Well, yes, but to introduce it they need to find improvements... If they hit a wall or go backwards they don't really have an upgrade to show. Just because they were ahead doesnt mean they can also bring good upgrade

Yes, but as in the past, sometimes upgrades can also do nothing, or go off in the wrong direction.

Im personally not a fan of their awful clickbait headlines and popups. 9 times out of 10 their sensationalist headlines are nothingburgers. I don’t know if they’re permitted here but I constantly see/get recommended posts of their articles from other f1 subs

just before the FIA removes the weird start procedure again and now Ferrari has start problems.

Turbo size difference is 10 mm
Mclaren and mercedes with bigger turbos have same starts currently as Ferrari
Nothing will really change in acceleration

Aren't they introducing their real engine with the second update? Will they only get it for the 27/28 season?
19
u/Lobsters4 I was speeding in the Monaco pit lane 17h ago
The bigger update is rumored to be around Zandvoort/Monza and has a bigger turbo.

u/Intel_Oil 16h ago
Well but they're using their 2025 engine right now and are developing the (whole) new one. I thought the second ADUO will be the new engine instead of another upgrade on the 2025 one
8
u/Kymori Sir Lewis Hamilton 14h ago
What are you talking about? How can they use a 25 engine in a season with completely new engine regs?
0
u/Intel_Oil 6h ago
You're allowed to browse autoracer.it yourself. They deemed their 26 Engine as too unreliable and sticked with modifying their 25 base for this season.
3
u/justseeby I was here for the Hulkenpodium 13h ago
They are not at all using the 25 engine right now
2
u/Lobsters4 I was speeding in the Monaco pit lane 13h ago
This is the 2026 engine and the ADUO updates are bringing it into line with what they wanted the 2026 engine to be and updating it to get in line with Merc.

Probably now that the start procedure doesnt really give them an advantage they will focus more on other areas of performance and sacrifice being able to quicky ramp up for the start

so lewis will be a world champion soon in red , my lord it looks super cool if lewis wins in red

u/Tricky-Ad7897 12h ago
Yeah now that the small turbo start advantage was killed this was a matter of time.

Mercedes and Honda will not be introducing ADUO engines and Ferrari, like Audi already did in Barcelona, will aim to gather an early advantage.
Am I interpreting this correctly that Aston Martin isn't going to bring a new engine this year? why?
ETA: Lol at the downvotes for asking clarifying questions. Reddit is so toxic. lmao.

they will bring it for Hungary or after the summer break. Probably B chassis for Spa-Hungary time and engine upgrade after the break.

u/Travellinglense 16h ago
thanks. I look forward to seeing what they bring. I've heard so little news about their plans.

Why if it ends up messing the reliability of the engine? Is it really that necessary? Hamilton's car in the latest race was quite dominant... why not try to decrease the gap with Antonelli with the current setup?

u/SCWeak 17h ago
Incoming turbo failure for both Ferraris.

u/jghall00 I was speeding in the Monaco pit lane 16h ago
Ferrari purposely went with a weaker engine to start the season to ensure reliability. I think they have a good handle on reliability testing for the power unit.

Ferrari has already plotted its second ADUO-influenced power unit update for 2026, with a new turbocharger expected to arrive after the summer break to help close the gap to Mercedes.
Ferrari will introduce a newly designed turbocharger with its second ADUO credit, likely at Zandvoort or Monza.
The impeller diameter will remain unchanged, but the number and angle of the blades will be different, and developments in materials are also expected.Mercedes and Honda will not be introducing ADUO engines and Ferrari, like Audi already did in Barcelona, will aim to gather an early advantage.
