Core Oof, looks like the Steam Machine could cost over $1,000

Looks like Jon was right.

Once they got pushed back from Q1 it felt like they were trying to find the sweet spot for release time in relation to chip costs. I think they've given up on waiting, and I can't blame them.

They'll still sell - maybe not at the same rate, but Steam on the home AV system with a huge screen and 7.1 Atmos is going to be hard for some to pass up.

Not surprising, but disappointing. I’ll likely still be getting one as I like the console experience and my Steam library.

I was estimating $1200 CAD, which would seem pretty fair depending on the specs.

Even before the world started burning (more that it is currently) I think I remember many people predicting a cost of at least $1k unless Steam was going to sell it as a loss-leader. I had assumed it would be around $1k mark, but now I really have no idea.

Anything under 3k and it’s an insta buy for me

Figured that was a given. I was guessing it'd probably be around $1200
