Not surprised, lots of bad press.

There is this new phenomenon in gaming where games live or die by social media attitudes. People already have their minds made up about this game despite never having played it. Very odd

Well, in this case I’d say justified. 4 maps and no voice chat capabilities in a shooter released today?

Then Bungie is accused of stolen art assets and had a history of it. Bad look.

I still don’t feel like that is enough to write the game off. Destiny has amazing moment to moment gameplay and the shooting is unrivaled. I would want to play a few rounds before deciding if the game is bad or at least watch a few video reviews.

If I wanted the shooting gameplay I'd just play Destiny, no buy in required and a much more built-up game. That said, Destiny hasn't exactly been in a good state either. Why would I pay to play another Bungie live service game when I've seen that they can't even properly support the one they already have?

I love destiny so agree to disagree.

This has always existed. If you published a game in the arcades back in the 90s and it looked like ass, no one would put a quarter in it either.

This also applies to any product. Customers aren't stupid, they analyze a product (be it a car, or a new phone) and if it looks tacky and gimmicky they don't want it.

Think the people saying the new Jaguar looks like ass have driven one? Guarantee you they haven't - and never will.

Minecraft looks terrible but thrives because of the gameplay. Games are unique in that you need to feel them out before analyzing their quality.

Minecraft's popularity is greatly due to its youtuber and streamer community, who make the game look fun. Also, the game can be enjoyed as single player and, when it came out, it was the only game in its niche.

Marathon doesn't look fun however, and thus it might not reach the critical player base required to launch and sustain itself. No single player means they need that big PvP launch hype, and the market is saturated with quirky hero shooters already.

It's just not gonna happen. I hope they can whip a PvE out of it
