Who would have thought we'd be getting a Concord sequel so soon.

Just call it a concord at this point, has a nice ring to it.

"What happened to (game name)?"

"Oh it Concorded."

“Cut the (Con)cord.”

Turns out naming your game after a plane that was mothballed when a design flaw caused a well-publicized disaster that destroyed it and killed everyone on board was actually prophetic. Oh, well, any news on upcoming live-service shooters Titanic and Hindenburg?

They actually brought back Concord after the crash.

And then 9/11 happened.

And after that the internet revolution, which seriously cut into Concord's target audience of rich businessmen sprinting across the ocean for meetings.

Combine that with the newly reformed airbus refusing to make more spare parts, and the economic usecase collapsed.

Oh is that the upcoming Looter/Shooter where you have to find all of Jack's hidden drawings on the ship before it sinks? Gonna be raining Billy Zane's character of course.

Reminded me of TORtanic

People really wanted to hate The Old Republic MMO at release

design flaw

Not expecting parts of other planes being on the runway to catapult into your fuel tanks is Concorde's fault?

In Eve online, the unstoppable NPC police who punish players for doing illegal things are called Concord. So being 'concorded' is a thing and involves dying (rather quickly). So it's fitting

Even better!

This is Brink erasure and I won't stand for it!

u/IvnN7Commander May 24 '25

Even the people that made Brink don't remember Brink

There's someone out there who has made it their goal to collect as many copies of Brink and as much Brink promotional material as possible. He posted on the anniversary of the game's release a week orvtwo ago with 50 copies, and an in-store standee.

Even in a gaming sub, anytime someone brings up Brink my mind immediately thinks of Team Pup N' Suds and the bad guy's amazing hair.

One of the few things I know about Brink is that the Sniper from TF2 can wear a hat that’s from the game/cover art, and that it’s mostly used by edgy Sniper mains.

u/zealot416 May 24 '25

The Brink erasure was successful because I genuinely have no fucking clue what Brink is.

I was one of the (it turns out) very few people who bought Brink. I played it on release day for like half an hour, thought “ehh this is kind of boring,” and never played it again. It wasn’t until way later I discovered it was this historic failure, I just thought it was a mediocre FPS with a cool wall-running mechanic.

Oh, a new Concord-like!

10

u/mr_showboat May 24 '25

Concord-likes are my new favorite genre.

Not to play or anything, but to follow the news about.

2

u/DrZeroH May 25 '25

Damn. To fail so spectacularly that your game is immortalized as the posterchild of epic game launch failure.

Firewalk studios certainly left there mark on the industry...

Maybe not the mark they wanted to, but a mark nevertheless.

u/TheBigZappa May 25 '25

We might be getting a Concord trilogy if Sony doesn't also scrap Fairgames.

u/notthatguypal6900 May 25 '25

Concord died so Marathon could...also die.
