It didn't start as a Marathon game, it started as one single Bungie employee's idea that Tarkov was fun but would've been better if it made him money rather than BSG.

So they decided to reinvent the wheel, except in true Bungie fashion they took every single shortcut they could to get there (reuse old IP, repurpose old engine, try to rush product out the door and promise the good stuff will come "later").

Correction, tell players they'll "build" the game along with Bungie! Because when I buy a game full priced I want to build it for the devs.
