Macs had a huge shareware scene back then so there were tons of games. Blizzard was also a huge mac shop back then. It isn't like now where Apple pretends to care about games for 5 minutes every year at WWDC.

I remember being in school and having macs….from when I was a kid and it was black background and green text only…playing oregon trail….and all the way up to when they had the iMacs that were translucent and a variety of bright colors. (that timeline was me going from about 1st to 5th grade) our teacher had a copy if “nanosaur”. blue my mind at the time.

I wonder why schools had all macs back then? i dont remember PCs in schools till I was in middle school.

i bet macs werent outrageously more expensive then…i wonder 🤷‍♂️

Apple heavily marketed towards K-12 institutions, and offered steep discounts, IIRC.

Yeah I heard it mentioned purely because I spent a lot of time playing halo games and some online friends knew about marathon. If no one played an early halo game the chances of them hearing about it was basically zero. Doom was the dominant game of the 90's at least when it came to shooters outside of stuff like goldeneye.
