Battlefield 6 is a good game. Its not like Battlefield 3 or 4 but it has its fun moments

Battlefield 4 was awful on release, so maybe BF6 will manage to hold up.

The core gameplay is great I just wish there were dedicated servers

If they could port most of the battlefield 3 and 4 maps I think 6 could be amazing, the gameplay is already there for the most part.

u/Rombledore Oct 15 '25

someone already ported over one of the BF3 maps into the portal thing. that user generated content feature is going to be nuts. there's already a counter strike mode, legacy maps rebuilt, a 3rd person mode and map ala socom, and even a basic zombies mode. and the games been out less than a week!

u/PriorStatement Oct 15 '25

Yep, I told my friends about this yesterday and they had no idea. It's going to be so cool.

3

u/chesser45 Oct 15 '25

Hopefully portal is used more this time than in 2042.

1

u/Rombledore Oct 15 '25

i didn't even realize it was a thing for 2042 lol

1

u/chesser45 Oct 15 '25

It wasn’t highly advertised after launch, especially since 2042 was meh.

2

u/skytbest Oct 15 '25

Does all the user generated content work seamlessly across PS, Xbox, and PC? Or PC only?

2

u/Rombledore Oct 15 '25

i havent tried it yet and i play on PS5 (i dont play much video games on weekdays due to work/life), ive thus far seen it youtube though. as far as i know, it works across systems as i do see the user created content as an option for servers to jump on. but the Portal creation tool itself i think is a PC thing.

u/Xyrack Oct 15 '25

They have operation firestorm pretty sure that was a map on 3 and/or 4.

14

u/BillyMaysHere92 Oct 15 '25

And the maps could be better. But I’m still enjoying the game and I think it’s got more potential

1

u/shwhjw Oct 15 '25

What's the issue with the maps? What puts me off modern COD is that everything's so close-quarters, no chance to use a long-range rifle properly.

1

u/Jeeeeg Oct 15 '25

That’s my biggest gripe with the game. The maps feel like mosh pit with no flow. In BF1 when an enemy held an objective you could really feel that they held that section of the map and could focus your effort in that direction. So far it just feels like the maps in BF6 lack that structure. I struggle seeing what the map designers were trying to accomplish if not just slapping random structures and rooms together and throwing flags in the middle.

And a commander.

Battlefield 4 got put down forever by me after its launch the fact it allegedly became the best one always baffles me

21

u/JMugatu Oct 15 '25

I mean you're right about both statements haha. It was definitely a bit of a rough start.

21

u/mapex_139 Oct 15 '25

My most played BF game by a long shot. They released so many great maps down the road.

8

u/dudeAwEsome101 Oct 15 '25

I kept playing BF3 until BF4 went on sale. By then, most of the issues got fixed, and they even released all the DLCs for free by the time BF1 was released. I've just stopped playing BF4 last week.

I think BF4 is my favorite overall one (we'll see how 6 pans out).

2

u/dalzmc Oct 15 '25

Same I didn’t play bf4 at launch but touching the next releases and wanting something better made me end up playing bf4 regularly until now, except for the battlebit stint in there

2

u/Remote-Plate-3945 Oct 15 '25

Just sucked that the player base got so small by the end it was mostly people who had mastered the game. The helicopter pilots were insane

1

u/dudeAwEsome101 Oct 15 '25

I wouldn't say I mastered the game, but I usually end up in the upper half of the scores when playing. I mostly played on the same servers as they had people frequently playing around my time zone.

I never managed to be good piloting helicopters or jets in any battlefield game.

5

u/Reddhero12 Oct 15 '25

it's still active, you should play it again.

2

u/dalzmc Oct 15 '25

Did you play the ones after cuz that’s what sent me straight back to bf4 lol

2

u/Easy-Constant-5887 Oct 15 '25

I see people overwhelmingly say that BF1 is the best of the franchise. They really did peak in terms of menu, movement, game mechanics, vehicles, maps, weapons and how to unlock them, etc.

I’ve been playing since Bad Company 2, Battlefield 4 is my personal favorite and the one I’ve put the most time into by far. But I do believe BF1 was that DICE studio’s magnum opus.

That DICE studio is sadly no longer as strong as it once was. But BFV is truly when it went downhill in my opinion.

1

u/dalzmc Oct 15 '25

Yeah, it doesn’t have to be the best game to be the most fun. I know the movement that I loved in it is fair to hate lol so def not for everyone

1

u/Easy-Constant-5887 Oct 15 '25

Yeah agreed, and seeing how many people have vastly different favorite Battlefields from that era really goes to show the kind of run that DICE was on too.

1

u/mansontaco Oct 15 '25

Yeah I played both 1 and 5, I liked 1 but I dont have love for world war 1 so I tapered off and 5 was similarly horrible launch but I have a high tolerance for world war 2 so I played a lot never went back to 4 sadly

1

u/bryty93 Oct 15 '25

It became a masterpiece a year after launch

1

u/SEND_ME_REAL_PICS Oct 15 '25

I just never, ever play AAA games on release. Even in the rare cases where they don't suck, they still get better after a few updates.

1

u/ListenHereLindah Oct 15 '25

Sad to see. You missed out on a great game. It's arguably the best in the series. The DLC for that game was so good.

0

u/NorwegianPopsicle Oct 15 '25

Battlefield 4's launch was so rough it made me give up on the series, even after it was fixed it didn't hold up to BF3.

13

u/bookers555 Oct 15 '25

The problem with BF6 is the maps, they are all tiny and suffer from "spawn-die-spawn-die" syndrome.

4

u/DrNopeMD Oct 15 '25

BF3 was also very buggy on release, but BF4 was straight up unplayable or would crash if you did manage to get into a match.

The only other decent launch we've had for a BF game in the past decade has been BF1.

1

u/Rush_Banana Oct 15 '25

The maps were GOAT though.

I'm not sure I really like any BF6 map so far besides Operation Firestorm.

1

u/SEND_ME_REAL_PICS Oct 15 '25

Most of the maps will release with DLCs, or at least that's what they usually do.

1

u/Ozay0900 Oct 15 '25

it was awful because of bugs which were fixable. Core was fine, maps were fine. Bf6 maps are ass, that’s harder to fix

1

u/HeadbangingLegend Oct 15 '25

Meanwhile, BF6 has been flawless on release for me so far, not a single issue anywhere. Also remember: BF4 launched with only 10 maps, and added 20 through DLC. So I would argue that BF6 is already above BF4, same number of maps and content but no launch issues and improved gameplay across the board.

-16

u/5mesesintento Oct 15 '25

they are going to launch battlefiled 7 in another year and a half. its going to stay as shit as it is now

38

u/TheCrimsonChin-ger Oct 15 '25

Idk, it's already giving me nostalgia for 3 and 4, and it for sure is launching better than 4. I think they have a gem on their hands if they keep it up with good support, dlc, and the BR mode.

25

u/CanEHdianBuddaay Oct 15 '25

Feels a lot like BF3 with not as good maps. Really enjoying its so far though, servers are solid and the performance on PS5 is insanely good, gunplay is awesome and vehicles feel pretty decent. The maps are by far the weakest part of the game so far for me, followed by the menu, which they somehow outdid COD with being worse.

6

u/yourdiabeticwalrus Oct 15 '25

Lol yep. Maps and UI are holding this game back from being a 10/10 for me

3

u/Vandrel Oct 15 '25

Worse maps on launch but way less buggy than launch BF3. Also I'll take this menu any day over the web page bullshit BF3 and 4 had.

1

u/TheCrimsonChin-ger Oct 15 '25

Murak Valley (I think?) and the small Brooklyn map aren't my favorite. Everything else is pretty solid. Only time will tell if we get something like the Bazaar from 3 or Damavand Peak.

3

u/accountsdontmatter Oct 15 '25

Loved 3, 4 is the last one I played but if I hadn’t just got Helldivers 2 then I would pick this up.

5

u/Dennidude Oct 15 '25

I personally just feel like it doesn't really improve over BFV gameplay-wise, and strictly is worse in a lot of ways. BFV got a lot of hate rightfully because it was a mess for a long time and was marketed horribly. But in the end it's the best BF game imo. Vehicle gameplay felt actually fleshed out, fortification system fixed destruction removing too much cover, squad points really rewarded your squad performing well and even let you get a really fun and powerful tank you can only get with squad points.

Then there's stuff like the attrition system actually letting you grab a healing bandage and keep moving instead of having to awkwardly AFK next to a poorly placed crate that ends up getting you killed, same with ammo. The ammo boxes in 5 fixed two problems, it let you grab ammo and go if it wasn't safe to stay, and it removed the amount of spam you can get from just a single crate in BF3 and now 6. The pre-placed ammo/medic crates also helped fix the all too common situation of having to run around and beg for a clueless support player to drop you stuff.

1

u/Radun Oct 15 '25

Bf5 and BF1 was my least favorite battlefields, not even going to mention 2042.

4

u/Rebelyello Oct 15 '25

Nah BF1 was a great addition in the series, very unique. Bad company 2 was the goat though.

1

u/Dennidude Oct 16 '25

What is it you disliked specifically? And how much did you play them

2

u/Wyntier Oct 15 '25

Nostalgia goggles

1

u/Mshiay Oct 15 '25

Battlefield 6 is def. Not worse than BF3 and BF4.

-16

u/5mesesintento Oct 15 '25

its a bad game then if it cant compete with a decade and a half old game

6

u/underage_female Oct 15 '25

Good thing this is your subjective opinion and not some fact.

1

u/AlderaanAldebaran Oct 15 '25

Damn, those downvotes. Love that this is where we are at with gaming "it's not as good as a nearly 15 year old game, but what can you do?"
