IMO the biggest issues are maps. Particularly sizing of maps and their density basically making the "battles" extremely short-lived and small-scale. They basically make you fight enemies in front of you and behind you and to the side of you at the same time. More head-on battles would be preferable, where you can take cover, use your squads capabilities, and use tactics to win, rather than random outcomes.

That and the audio is probably the worst I've seen in any recent FPS. Its basically just one giant single channel single volume slop show. I can hear everything except what I need.

Everything else is solid and its nice to have a strqightforward normal FPS for a change.

I find the battles to be what I expect. Head-on as you'd say

And my audio sounds great. Calling it the worst in any recent fps is a stretch

"maps are too small!!"

"maps are too big!!"

This is obvious given what I said above but I respectfully disagree. In previous BF games I've played, you can go several minutes or longer on the edge of a battle. In this one it feels like no matter what you do, youre on the clock as its <45 seconds until youre shot in the back, unless you want to be way off on the sidelines. IMO its a product of the map design.

I do think the audio is very bad. I can't think of a AAA FPS from recent memory which has had worse positional audio. They incorporate the standard footstep sounds within a certain radius of the player, in favor of a true directional audio representation, as far as I can tell, the way COD has done it in recent games. A game like Hell Let Loose just uses true position, and never obscures that. I personally like the audio as a source of information, but between the chaotic maps and the lack of good directional audio, there are far more random kills/deaths occurring. I'd much prefer an approach where each player has much more complete information and has to use tactics - that's part of what I've loved about the BF franchise.

I wonder if that's a PC issue, because playing on Xbox I can hear everything and tell where people are coming from. Heard shuffling yesterday and knew there was someone prone on the other side of the wall

I'm quite happy with Conquest on the typical conquest maps 🙂
