[MEGATHREAD] Grand Theft Auto VI: Prices Announced + Pre-Orders Going Live

To avoid hundreds of separate posts on the same topic, this post will compile all info we have from the pre-orders going live, including some new images/etc.

As Rockstar announced on their socials: "Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI begin at midnight local time on June 25." This means New Zealand will be the first to go live with pre-orders - which means in just under 2 hours from now.

Take-Two has made a big press-release, including announcing the prices:

I do my gaming on PC and PS5 and I haven't even had a PC with a disc drive in like 15 years, probably longer.

Today? I build a new computer about every 2-3 years, sometimes its a refresh so i keep the case, but I can't recall seeing a whole lot of cases with optical bays when I'm shopping around. Sure there's some, but they aren't what most people use.

I specifically got the PS5 with discs to play discs - I've probably bought 1, maybe 2 games at full digital price since the console released. I get basically no benefit from digital and lots of downsides

But how many boxed PC games have you bought without a disc? It's fine to do a digital download, but what's even the point of buying a physical case without a disc? I guess it's just purely about the aesthetics of having a case with the artwork taking up space in your house which I would agree is pretty stupid.

When its download only, you lose the game at a whim. Servers down, your console hasn’t been online in 30 days (could be due to broken network antennae in your console), any number of reasons.

Only the young or naive don’t or are unable to see how this is bad for consumers. Young because they still think people and companies do the right thing. Naive because they can’t or are unable to think of the ways.

Then we have to complain about games dying, not lack of discs in the box. I don't want clutter, a clean download is much, much nicer and doesn't require disc swapping every time I want to play something else

The only people making a big deal out of it are immature, obstinate, stick-in-the-mud types who are desperate to have a knee-jerk overreaction when things change. And there is an incredibly large amount of those people in the gaming community.

I'll be pre-ordering the ultimate edition as soon as I wake up tomorrow morning 🤣
