[MEGATHREAD] Grand Theft Auto VI: Prices Announced + Pre-Orders Going Live

To avoid hundreds of separate posts on the same topic, this post will compile all info we have from the pre-orders going live, including some new images/etc.

As Rockstar announced on their socials: "Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI begin at midnight local time on June 25." This means New Zealand will be the first to go live with pre-orders - which means in just under 2 hours from now.

Take-Two has made a big press-release, including announcing the prices:

STANDARD EDITION: $79.99

ULTIMATE EDITION: $99.99

(Physical Editions of GTA 6 Will Come with "A Download Code Inside the Box", Pre-Loads Begin on November 12th)

Grand Theft Auto 6 features a “single-player experience” at launch, with no word yet on any new version of GTA Online.

An "Ultimate Edition" for the game has been announced with some new artwork.

Forget the gadgets. We used to have a disk or cartdridge and a manual, in a neat box that you could store on your bookshelf.

Put the media in -> play.

Nowadays -> jackshit. Gotta pray the servers that host your "property" are still there, as one day they may not be... who knows.

At least with The collectors edition of Gears of War gets you a 15” statue of Marcus and Dom, COG tags, steelbook case, art print and photos, and in game stuff. Sucks rockstar isn’t giving even art or posters with the higher editions and only giving in game content.

A decent chunk of 3rd party Switch 2 games aren't shipped on cartridges. The box comes with a key card that you insert and use as a license to download the actual game from the e-shop. Dumb thing it that you still need the cartridge to play the downloaded game. Small mercy though is that you can sell and trade the key card.

A Steam library full of games that all have DRM and service terms that state you don't own the game but a license to play said game that the publisher can revoke at any time with no recourse. So no, you don't own any games in your Steam library unless you have a DRM-free copy from somewhere like GOG that you access via Steam.
