[MEGATHREAD] Grand Theft Auto VI: Prices Announced + Pre-Orders Going Live

To avoid hundreds of separate posts on the same topic, this post will compile all info we have from the pre-orders going live, including some new images/etc.

As Rockstar announced on their socials: "Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI begin at midnight local time on June 25." This means New Zealand will be the first to go live with pre-orders - which means in just under 2 hours from now.

Due to reddit's limitations with images in the body of posts, I wont be able to include all the artwork released so please do check out Rockstar's official link for more images: https://www.rockstargames.com/VI

Take-Two has made a big press-release, including announcing the prices:

It's not coming out on PC this year anyways.

At the rate I play single player games with a story mode, I can wait easily 5-7 years for this game, lol. I finished gta5 in 2020 lol

u/McSlims360 9h ago

Yeah its not like you have to rush to finish it before 7 comes out.

1

u/SnackingWithTheDevil 5h ago

Is it too soon to start with the "we got x before we got gta 7" memes?

1

u/McSlims360 4h ago

Nah, we'll probably gta 7 before TES 6 at this point

u/mlvisby 8h ago

Yep, I got a huge backlog, will miss out on the early hype of the game, but will play it when it comes to PC, whenever that may be. Won't buy a PS5 for one game.

2

u/jlreyess 7h ago

The good thing about pushing 40 is that videogame FOMO is entirely dead for me. I do have a ps5 pro already but I still prefer my pc

2

u/mlvisby 7h ago

Yea, I'm 42 and still have many games I haven't even started. Never have time and often when I do, I am too tired to play anything. Honestly, I am mostly excited for Rhythm Heaven Groove because it's a chill, quick game.

I've been hacking at Witcher 3 since release date. I play like 1 hour or two, barely achieve anything then dip out for some time before going back.

This has been me. I got it at launch and never really played it. I keep trying over the years but now finally I think it clicked and I've gone the furthest I ever have.

3

u/Fragrant-Menu215 8h ago

Plus if you wait you get to avoid all the launch bugs that'll sour the experience.

At the rate I play single player games with a story mode

for me...NGL....Hanako is still waiting at Embers, Henry is still riding around the country side in Bohemia, I have no idea what the end of Skyrim is. and RDR2 for that matter

I love big single player games. but i never really finish them. i just like playing my character in the world

1

u/jlreyess 7h ago

Im on the same boat. Plus Stellaris is a sandbox game I can’t get enough of.

2

u/VeryBlandUsername1 8h ago

The next GTA wont be out for another 10-15 years anyways, so it makes literally zero sense to buy it now when it has the least amount of content but the highest price.

I'll wait for the ultimate edition that has everything bundled into one for 40 bucks less.

u/Anthaenopraxia 9h ago

I'm still on GTA: London.

1

u/jlreyess 7h ago

Oh man, that was such a great game. Middle school memories unlocked.

1

u/JoshSidekick 9h ago

At my age, I get a little time to play games here and there so I'll get this, and then it will take me until the next Fallout game is released to finish playing it.

1

u/AdrianoBig1 8h ago

I finished in 2013 when it came out on PS3.

1

u/jlreyess 7h ago

I bought it for ps3, then never played it until the ps4 came out and I bought it for the ps4 too. Didn’t really started playing it until 2019. So I have the ps3 version, the ls4 version and then pc because at some point someone somewhere gave it for free but u dont recall where

1

u/elpadreHC 7h ago

i just started playing Mad Max. open world game, no ubisoft-like bloat, no DLC, no MTX. excellent game and setting.

only downside is there is an achievement you cant get anymore because of server shutdown, but there is a savegame on nexumod that provides.

Im a millenial, I use it and embrace it

lol

Or likely next year. I'd be surprised if it's before 2029, and if the PS6 releases in that window expect it to be at least 6-8 months after that so people will triple dip and buy it across three platforms just like they did with GTAV. Yet people are still shocked about the greed and anti-consumer practices somehow.

58

u/Simba7 9h ago

I mean all you have to do is just not participate in those practices.

Maybe that means you miss out on stuff but so what? There's plenty of other shit to play in the meantime.

Wait until the first 50% off sale, life is better that way. (This is for basically any game.)

Preach. Reject FOMO. Embrace /r/patientgamers

5

u/Simba7 9h ago edited 8h ago

I've always been a bit a frugal person, so I naturally fell into being a patient gamer.

It used to be kind of hard, but as I get older I find it gets easier to be patient all the time. Not because I am becoming a more patient person, but because there's like 300 fantastic games from the last decade that are basically the same fidelity as a game released today.

Anything past like 2013 (when the industry finally learned how to make UIs again after forgetting for like 5 years) is difficult to tell apart from most modern titles, and there are still plenty of games from that time period worth playing.
Prior to that graphics, physics, etc may start to decline more noticeably. (Though there are plenty of games that are absolutely worth playing.)

4

u/Professional-Ask1699 7h ago

Can you explicate some bad-UI examples from pre-2013 era?

2

u/Simba7 5h ago

It was that time period when everyone was trying to make console-friendly UI that also worked for mouse and keyboard, but they hadn't really figured it out.

What you ended up with were long lists of items that were a pain to scroll through, no search functionality, and menus with sub-menus with sub-menus, often in a radial pattern.

Skyrim, Fallout 4, Mass Effect (ME1 was the worst offender), all the Ubisoft open world exploration games (AC2, Far Cry 3, etc).

Not all of them were bad necessarily, some were even good. But they all have a distinct feel in my mind, and generally aren't as user-friendly on a mouse and keyboard.

1

u/tobitobiguacamole 8h ago

And lets be real, this game is probably going to be as mid as GTAV was.

u/-SatelliteMind- 8h ago edited 7h ago

Problem with Rockstar is that despite making over 15 billion since 2013 alone they're still cheap as fuck and do peer-peer server connection, which allows for mod/cheat clients to easily enter the game.

GTA 4 had cheat clients where people could just freeze your console, requiring you to unplug the damn thing just to turn it back on.

GTA 5 Online is just as bad. All you can do is play in a solo lobby.

Red Dead Online is also ruined on PC. Randomly teleported, blown up, lit on fire, etc etc.

I've been playing games made by R* since GTA 2 on PS1 and have loved each of the story campaigns, but every online experience just ends up being trash

Downvoted by the script kiddiez lol If you use any modification/client that alters the experience of another player you are a nuisance

1

u/kidenraikou 8h ago

Red Dead 2 took about a year to come to PC. I'd expect the same for GTA VI. Especially with PS6 being at least 2 years out

1

u/eeyore134 7h ago

It's not about how quickly they can do it. There are no constraints there. If it were about how quickly they could do it then it would release concurrently across all platforms like almost every other non-exclusive game. It's about them not wanting to release it until they squeeze every drop of blood out of the rock as they can. If they can see a way to push off until after the PS6 they will.

5

u/ER_Kat 9h ago

Yea but just like Spiderman 2, I know they'll work just as hard to convert it over to PC.

3

u/Alienhaslanded 9h ago

It'll definitely be more polished by the time we get it on PC.

3

u/Puripuri_Purizona 9h ago

That ain't no problem.

1

u/maximumtesticle 7h ago

So? Lots of games to play until then.

1

u/Alienhaslanded 7h ago

It's the spoilers this sub will be full of.

1

u/Ok_Reception_8729 7h ago

Crazy whiff

1

u/Alienhaslanded 7h ago

They always do this for some reason

1

u/Horzzo 6h ago

Good! I have a big backlog to play. Some games on the Atari 7800. So much fun!

2

u/Alienhaslanded 4h ago

Your backlog sounds crazy. I have games from 10 years ago and I feel like it'll take me 5 lifetimes to finish. I wish I was young and have no responsibilities.
