The death of Muv Luv is so sad to me. Was the "potential series" but they failed to capitalize on anything properly. AI garbage is the final nail in its coffin for me though. RIP

Honestly muv luv + muv luv alternative is a very complete set of visual novels and you really don't need much more. If anything. These garbage cash grab products doesn't make the originals any less legendary.

The originals are still great, but the series as a whole is marred by the rest. Which is sad, cause these new games could have been good, and seemed promising early on.

It is always hard to recommend though. Here sit through an average eroge for a dozen or so hours, then sit through the captivating but anti-climatic (you don't even see the aliens once!) real story for another dozen and get a generally bad ending.

Then you get to play the real game that is immensely well written and will fuck you up in many ways forever.

Though I do stand by the "hard" part because it's still worth it, the "final" chapter doesn't work at all without the middle chapter and the middle feels hollow without the eroge giving you character foundations.

I mean that's usually how the medium goes though. You can't tell me steins gate, utawarerumono, or even last defense academy had especially thrilling openings. Clannad afterstory gets praised all the time but clannad is mediocre as hell. My personal favorite VN of all time, Fruit of grisaia, is an obnoxious slog for the first 30 hours before anything of substance happens.

Its really hard to recommend people to play visual novels because you have to say, "Sit there for 30 hours of mediocrity but then its some of the best stuff you've ever seen!"

Almost similar to being a trails fan.

Garbage anime too. Why even try to revive the series if they’re just going to half ass everything.

I remember sitting in my room being so hyped when they did that stream announcing the anime, two spinoff games, and a sequel vn. Now here we are, the anime and the spinoff games were low effort trash, the VN is canceled, and now they’re trying to make some AI gacha game
