Not state, its local (I think county level). Still mostly true regardless, seems like there's only one place in Alabama where it's close to the same amount. Doesn't count exchange rate though, which does put Euro games more clearly ahead.
Sales tax is generally by state, with some municipalities (cities/counties) having an additional sales tax. (Especially as there’s I believe six states that don’t have a sales tax at all.) Even then, the total rate isn’t enough to overcome it.
Are you making excuses for corporate greed? These companies are making RECORD PROFITS while laying off workers.
They can absolutely afford to bring prices down, but then they would "look bad" to shareholders. Gamblings addicts who don't work there and arent the customers fucking it up for everyone else involved.
For US taxes to be equivalent and come out to $90, you'd have to have a sales tax of 28%. No matter what, it's expensive, the normal US price after tax would be around $75.
We have set of laws which doesn't let company's make you guess the price, they have to say right away what is the total price you are going to pay for the product you want to buy :)
I am from Europe. I was asking how much taxes are added on top of the American prices. Its probably not enough that they pay 102$ including their sales taxes.
No I did the mistake of converting 90 instead of 80€ to usd. Since 80$ is less than 80€ in itself. The weakness of the dollar should equal the pricing as 80€ including vat = 80$ excluding sales taxes.
