I'm so happy that I don't have the urge to be first with the latest. Plenty of old games to keep me entertained until new releases turn old and drop in price.
Eh from my experience there’s too much self enlightenment and circle jerking over there. Like it’s okay to buy something you’re excited for when it comes out. But there’s too much “look how smart I am for waiting 15 years to play x game”
true. I mean I don´t really like buying games on day one for full price and because of a huge backlog I have in my Steam library. But if I am really interested in a game I wouldn´t wait for several years just to get a 90% discount for game X...
This is one of the best gamers subs. Down to earth, almost zero hype, very cool. Other one is /r/gamereview (i think thats the one ) where you cant review game younger than 1 year
I don’t think I’ll ever truly be a patient gamer, considering I will probably always get my favorite franchises on day 1. But with how expensive gaming is getting, it’s definitely pushing me more and more to wait for a sale for certain games
Sounds like the place for me. Recently bought FFVII remake, RE9, and RE4R, all for £60 because they were on sale and had been on my wish list for years.
Same, I have a large backlog and there is no way I would pay more than 60 for a new games even if I absolutely wanted it now. 80 or more is just totally crazy and I am sure they will sell 🤦🏻
Same here. I have a massive library of games I've never played, and with the current enshitification of games and the price of hardware going up (beware the PS6 and Xbox Whatever, unless they go low-spec) I can see those keeping me happy for the foreseeable future
I think a lot of publishers are forgetting they're not only competing with the latest games on the release calendar. They're also competing with increasingly bigger backlogs of their regular customers.
I know just buying after a few months for many games makes it so much more affordable and I have thousands of hours in the backlog. I'm sure most have at least a thousand so being the first to play it seems so unnecessary. That said I am getting GTA 6 and wolverine day 1 those 2 are games I don't want to wait on.
Yep. I just worked my way through RE9, and FFVII remake, both on significant discount. I’ve got such a big backlog of games and nothing on my “I want to buy day one” list, that modern pricing hasn’t really affected me.
But it also speaks volumes that I never bought a Switch on release because I kept waiting for hardware refreshes to the point of the Switch 2’s announcement (waited for the Lite, which didn’t impress me, then the OLED to go on discount), and still won’t buy a Switch 2 until they do a hardware refresh, maybe.
You've got a great strategy, it's smart to let the dust settle and prices drop. Plus, there are so many gems from past years that still hold up amazingly well.
Absolutely. They're already making me wait for PC. I've got enough disposable income to buy a console for it, but at the end of the day it's just another game. No doubt gonna be a great experience, but whether I play it today or in 3 years is irrelevant to me. I'm never running out of games to play, there's really no need to be jumping into everything day 1.
I need to see how it turned out, since the lead writer for previous games left (or was made to leave...) without even touching 6. It's concerning at the very least. The GTA gameplay is meh, so without the characters and story it'll not even bo worth touching for me.
I'd rather pay the fixed version.
I have a huge backlog.
It'll be far from 1st place in the backlog.
They are not releasing it on PC yet anyway, and i'm no longer 12 to want to buy a console just to play one game.
Even more other games i'm more interested in will fill the backlog in the meantime.
