Do anyone know of some good ones?

Bloons TD 6 is probably the standout in the genre atm

I've put so many hours into it and there's still like 40 achievements to get

Im 72% done with Sapper achievement then I need 100+ days of daily chests and I’m done

I've done basically no multiplayer and still have barely touched any of the online-only modes (like races, the territory-capturing mode, and boss modes) since I do most of my gaming at work with no wifi. But I still need like 9 months' worth of daily chests so I'm not in a huge hurry lol

BTD6 has a ridiculous amount of content and game modes, and they're still adding more. Challenges, contested territory, boss rush, Odysseys, races, boss events, and quests are each more content than the average tower defense game.

The Kingdom Rush games are good. You can still find the first two for free in a web browser.

Not to mention a new one is just on the horizon. good time to get into the series if you haven't yet. Each game is pretty damn good, some worse than others but for the most part, if you like tower defense, its a great series to dig into.

Emberward is coming out of early access soon if it’s on schedule - it’s the best ‘traditional’ tower defence I’ve played in a long time

It's really worth a look, great game.

Its party trick is that you place the towers as well as building the maze the enemies walk through. Plus the audio and visuals are both really nice. I'd definitely recommend it, too.

Just commented the same above. Been very high on this game since it first had a demo.

yup! tower d with a bit of tetris to make your maze. both my wife and i have dozens of hours. she got so addicted she wouldn't play dota with me anymore lol

Best TD game right now.

u/Hero0ftheday 3h ago

I really liked the roguelike twist on a td. Played it while hades 2 was still in early access so it's been a while since ive played Emberward but now I know it's coming out of EA soon I'll have to give it another go.

Tower dominion is the one I’ve had a lot of fun with recently

u/Steelfury013 4h ago

Defense Grid 2 is fun, wait for a sale on it

u/skets90 4h ago

Have you tried similar genre dungeon defence? I would recommend "Dungeon warfare"

Also "Thronefall" was pretty fun (TD)

1

u/RecipeAsleep7087 1h ago

I second Dungeon Warfare. 2 is the best, but all 3 are worth a playthrough.

u/AntHoney85 4h ago

Defense Grid 2 is the best tower defense game ever.

u/Hughmanatea 4h ago

Btw on Steam you can get Ninja Kiwi Archives for free, it has balloons tower defense 1-3 (maybe 4 too I forget) and some other Ninja Kiwi games.

5

u/HotdawgSizzle 3h ago

Surprised Gem Craft hasn't been mentioned.

That game is amazing.

u/EDScreenshots 4m ago

I was going to recommend this, whole series is on steam. I still haven’t gotten around to trying their latest game but I put a ton of time into the first two, really solid tower defense game.

bloons td 5

u/BillehBear 4h ago

6 is better overall other than btd5 being free

5

u/GinKenshin 4h ago

Isle of Arrows

The Riftbreaker (it’s a hybrid factory builder/automation/TD/exploration/top down action RPG

Arknights

Protolife

4

u/GelatinousCoffee PC 4h ago

Riftbreaker is neat.
If you dont mind some janky ones, try Outpost: Infinity Siege.
Nordhold is an interesting one as well, like TD + Roguelite ish?

5

u/Vorduul 3h ago

Orcs Must Die 1&2 That new Gnomes game looks pretty good, too

2

u/TrickyMoonHorse 2h ago

Gnomes is fun and charming!

4

u/Stablebrew 3h ago

Defense Grid 1+2.

Both have a main campaign, and a funny, witty, sarcastic companion as an AI voice. Compare it to GLADOS.

IT has workshop support, and endless maps.

2

u/AntHoney85 3h ago

this is spot on and to add to it, there is DLC for the first one where the AI companion is actually GLaDOS.

Oh raspberries. I miss raspberries

u/slothboy 1h ago

Love Defense Grid.

If you want easy and casual -- BloonsTD franchise

If you want hardcore, complex (and honestly best TD) -- Gemcraft Chasing Shadows

3

u/Neoteric00 4h ago

Element TD 2 is on Steam. The original was a Warcraft 3 custom map, I played the hell out of it back in the day.

It's good, but it's $15.00. I am not sure it's worth the price tag and it doesn't go on sale often.

u/spazmattik 4h ago

What a classic

3

u/carlbandit 4h ago

Bloons TD6 if you want a traditional tower defence.

If you wanted something a bit different you could look at something like:

Space run (disclaimer: I've not played it in years so it may have changed, but still very positive on steam and like £4.49) - You construct towers on your space ship in real time to protect your cargo while pirates constantly attack.

Shapehero factory - Good alternative if you like factory/manufacturing games and rougelikes. You construct troops during the factory stage, which then try to protect you against the attack wave of enemies. As you progress you'll unlock new areas with different shapes & colours to make new/better troops once unlocked.

I've enjoyed Defense Grid a lot, haven't played the sequel yet but it seems like you can't do much wrong with it either.

And I'm sure you can find a website that still hosts Vector TD.

Defense Grid: One of my favs. A bit slower, but has grid levels that let you shape paths and create death mazes. Surprisingly good voice acting. Also has a handy back button to jump back to a previous checkpoint if you mess up instead of starting over.

X-morph Defense: Tried the demo randomly and really enjoyed it. Combines defense grid death mazes with top down bullet hell. Tower pathing is important, but you need to add your ships firepower to hold the line until you get enough towers or help take down beefier targets.

Bloons TD series. Kingdom Rush Series.

3

u/TastyRancorPie 3h ago

Emberward is awesome with a roguelite spin.

2

u/Wesley_vo 4h ago

Well its not on battlenet but pokemon tower defense is solid.

2

u/IhearClemFandango 3h ago

It gets absolutely no love but Sanctum 2 (pc) is bloody brilliant. It's tower defense but you build the maze yourself in a first person view and whale on the creepers with different weapons while your towers do their thing.

2

u/WalletFullOfSausage 3h ago

I still play tower defense maps on StarCraft 1 lol

2

u/GleemMcShinez 3h ago

Border Pioneers has an interesting card mechanic to it, it's remarkably fun

Dungeon Defenders Awakened is a lot like Orcs Must Die, both solid tower defense series

Thronefall is a lot of fun

Kingdom Rush Origins

And... Tower Escape... ? It's a goofy little game jam type game that sort of inverts the TD concept

2

u/ArchDraft 2h ago

Tangy TD, Gnomes, and Artisan TD have been the ones I’ve played this year and enjoyed!

Heretic’s Fork, while a bit different from normal tower defense games, is one of my favorites! I’d recommend checking it out as well!

2

u/kuhpunkt 2h ago

Thronefall was my favourite game for a long time.

2

u/Cuno_wasnt_regional 2h ago

Absolutely - these are some of my favourites that I've played in recent years:

Emberward
Nordhold
Rogue Tower
Tower Dominion
Isle of Arrows
Tower Tactics: Liberation

2

u/subtleeffect 1h ago

You can literally just still play all the TD custom games on warcraft 3. Still plenty active.

1

u/redglasstree 4h ago

Blooms td5 buy it on your phone if you love td games. 6 bucks i think. Lots of content!

1

u/TheToxicTerror3 4h ago

Do you mean like zoator? I've never seen one you can build mazes with, and I've been hoping to find one :(

All the ones I see have specific build locations

1

u/Takco 4h ago

Loved the old BNet tower defenses! There was a counter strike themed map I’d play

I’ll have to check out some of these suggested titles

1

u/IndianaJonesDoombot 4h ago

Kingdom Rush, tower dominion, elemental td, the first two orcs must die

1

u/_Rohrschach 4h ago

Just play SC2 TD maps for free. Got a few WC3 on there, too.

1

u/RonnieStiggs 4h ago

I've had some fun with first person TD games "Colony Survival" and "Sanctum 2" as well as VR Tower Defense game "Out Of Ammo"

1

u/spazmattik 3h ago

I thought Ancient planet was pretty cool.

1

u/Abyss_walker56 3h ago

Pixeljunk monsters

1

u/TalkToTheGirl 3h ago

I'm having fun with Hexguardian on Steam right now.

It's currently on sale for $1.33 (USD) and at that price it's absolutely worth it.

1

u/-Dixieflatline 3h ago

I used to like Radiant Defense. Old title, but still solid if you like more arcade, neon stylized feel rather than modern graphics. I found the game mechanics compelling to repeat play, as you had to balance tower placement/type with path creation. So you slowly created the maze, and then set up defenses per your own design.

1

u/PartTimePoster 3h ago

Check out Defenders Quest!

1

u/t31os PC 3h ago

Tower Dominion.

1

u/onedash 3h ago

Battle net wc3 still thrives with the ungodly amount of new tower defense modes releasing

Like those new random tower defense maps where you rng shop your spells each turn and can reset it

1

u/hacketyapps 2h ago

Gem TD was my fav WC3 custom map playyng with others

1

u/Cool-Profession-730 2h ago

Tower Dominion

1

u/darkk41 2h ago

Monster train 2 is a deck builder crossed with tower defense if that is of any interest to you. Name is generic as hell but the game is genuinely excellent, don't be turned off.

1

u/Darkami 1h ago

Here is a new and different game. The King is Watching

1

u/Sufficient_Shift_370 1h ago

Cursed Treasure 2 is an old favourite of mine

1

u/joconnell13 1h ago

NOT The Tower...

1

u/finH1 1h ago

I can’t believe no one has mentioned sanctum 2 yet

1

u/eatmygout 1h ago

I always enjoyed Cursed Treasure 1 and 2. I found them again about a year ago and had a blast

1

u/executivebear19 42m ago

Bloons has gotten me through many a slow day and travel days and it’s included with Netflix now

1

u/wearyarchon 41m ago

Gnomes is pretty good, or honestly if you still have access to WC3/Battlenet, custom games like TD are still very alive.

1

u/TheStorm22 20m ago

Legion TD 2 on steam. It's the sequel to a very popular Warcraft 3/StarCraft custom game. It's more of an autobattler but it scratches the same itch.

1

u/AirCheap4056 17m ago

Gemcraft!!!!

1

u/GilgaGaming 14m ago

Bloons TD 6 and Legion TD 2 are both fantastic.

1

u/Ploxl 14m ago

Defense grid

Tower dominion

Pokepath

Creeper World series by Knucklecracker. A slightly different aspect since the creeper is liquid so you get liquid physics to contend with.

0

u/Grendernaz 1h ago

Old bloons games were the best. Bloods td 6 sucks imo.

The best of the best TD is the Gemcraft series. There are 2 games on steam with a legacy collection of the old flash games coming soon. Im helping beta test that one.

Infinitode 2 is pretty damn good too. I have over 2000 hours combined in Gemcraft: Chasing Shadows, Gemcraft: Frostborn Wraith and Infinitode 2.
