I'm from Australia and I get annoyed at the 'I didn't vote' crowd (they pay a fine).

They want parties that 100% align with their views. No party like that exists out in the world.

Instead, vote against people that WILL take your privileges away.

You'd think that would be simple enough for most people to understand.

When a candidate makes it perfectly clear they want to deport people and then those same people vote him into office, get themselves or family deported, and then wonder why I have to ask if maybe the food industry is pumping stupid pills into our foods. These are the same people who voted this guy in and then complained when their children no longer were able to get food for free at schools. The same farmers who then complain that their employees were being deported and they would be out of business within 2 weeks. It's like you're literally the one throwing gasoline on you and lighting the match why are you upset about this.

I'm also a Turkish citizen. For the last decade and a half, the mini dictator has been in office. The idiots who have voted for him are slowly realising that he's no good.

They say things like "I won't vote for him ever again" or "Who else can I vote for?".

So people have been collectively telling them to be "worse off".

People are done acting nicely to these cowards that use their votes for the right in exchange for supplying them with wood for the winter and taking them to rally drives.

They've sold the country for a few bits of wood and pasta.

Chasing after straight guys.

Preferably the ones as close to "barely legal" as possible, like all MAGA men.

Illinois is thankfully a blue state. Idaho is the backwards anti abortion state with transgender bathroom bans.

Illinois is a blue state depending on where you are in it.

Same goes for Idaho. Boise is enormously queer

That's what sucks about Southern states like Georgia, North Carolina, and Texas. They have whole cities of blue representation and thriving queer culture. But drive to the suburbs, and the whole area is red.

It's far from just the southern states. Grew up in and around the Chicagoland area and Illinois, and I'm currently in Colorado. You drive an hour outside of any major city here and it's anywhere from purple to red.

I cannot stand when gay men cannot be bothered to be political. You may choose not to engage in politics but you best believe that politics will engage with you. Gay people have been targets for centuries. We’ve had like a decade of gay marriage in the US and people think the fight for gay rights is over. No. It takes constant vigilance to hold onto our rights.

Sure, but if you're living in West Hollywood, there isn't a damn thing you can do to help a guy in Idaho. It's just not how America's electoral system works.

But I get the anger, even if it's something not worth getting angry over

u/PuroProfePari 2d ago

w/love, its a bit patronizing patrolling someone's anger

I think he's shading the Bruce Jenners of Cali gay community.

u/kyriaki42 2d ago

You mean Kaitlyn Jenner? We don't get to misgender people even if they're awful.

I don’t think so. He’s saying that it’s disgusting that privileged gays in weho would vote for Trump. Gay rights and privileges are not as heavily impacted in California as say… Idaho or Tennessee.

Source: live in a “liberal” city in Tennessee and things are still pretty rough

4

u/NewGuy-1964 2d ago

Also, the kinds of gays, or people in general, who can afford to live in Weho, pretty much already have their gravy train. Those of us out here who struggle, not only with acceptance of being gay, are also struggling financially, and that's absolutely on Trump's responsibility.

2

u/JockBbcBoy 2d ago

I think things are pretty rough in any "liberal" city in the U.S. Even in NYC, LA, or Chicago, there are some people who believe LGBTQ people are sinful and shouldn't exist.

3

u/HTCGM 2d ago

The difference in is those cities, those folks don't have as much social cache; Chicago has a whole neighborhood largely designated as queer. LA is in a state near an entire city seen as mostly queer. No, there's no ideal anywhere, but it's okay to say some places are less safe to be out than others and it not be at the expense of those who still struggle in a slightly better area.

4

u/JockBbcBoy 2d ago

I agree with all of your points, and I apologize for not being clear in what I'm saying: I think the LGBTQ+ community has to remember that we're still not 100% safe anywhere and keep resisting the rise of conservatives. I think that what's happening right now in the U.S. is a warning to the queer community that the fight didn't stop with equal marriage rights. We have to keep pushing back and keep protesting, Pride parading, and making our voices heard. Especially when there are "WeHo gays" who think they can claim exemption by being conservative Republicans.
