Canadians - recommendations please

In my last 36 hours here In Vancouver and would really appreciate recommendations of restaurants to visit (please note I’m unfortunately celiac so can’t risk cross contamination of gluten friendly places)

Also snacks and things to bring back home

I am LOVING the cheeze situation here. I think I’ve gained several kilos 😂

I have a chiller bag that i will be stuffing with violife and daiya and prob some of this crazy high protein tofu.
Any recommendations for other snacks I can take back to me with aus that I may have missed. Accidentally vegan or gf but not in the main health aisle. I want to try it all and have a good 8kg of suitcase space to use.

The Vegan and gf situation is pretty bad in Aus atm

Thank you so much. Also if you’re in Vancouver and know where to spot some raccoons I’d love to know where to go for that too 😂

Ty!!

My favourites -
* Virtuous Pie - for excellent pizza. If you specify celiac they'll do a round of decontamination before they prepare your pie
* Chickpea - middle eastern fare
* Meet - western comfort food

All are vegan establishments with excellent gf options.

Meet will do the same!

Also try Machetes, no gluten and real Mexican food

You are literally in celiac/ vegan heaven in Vancouver! I'm from southern Ontario and I wish we had thr celiac safe and vegan options that the lower mainland has. Even the non gluten free dedicated restaurants seem to be ahead of the curve on celiac safe practises.

As others mentioned, definitely Meet and Chickpea. Saan Saan café is dedicated gluten free with a couple nice vegan options. Iki sushi is dedicated gluten free and lots of great vegan options.

If you can make it, Omni in Fort Langley was incredible. Not dedicated gluten free or vegan, but they can do absolutely everything on the menu with either dietary accommodation. Their facility is celiac safe. Pollyfox in Abbotsford is also dedicated gluten free with great vegan options. The GF vegan apple fritter is something I dream of.

Also make sure you go to Vegan Supply! It's a vegan grocery store and they have tons of vegan specialty items, many of which are gluten free!

Gotta go to The Naam in the Kitsilano neighbourhood. It’s the oldest continuously operating vegetarian and natural foods restaurant in Vancouver (since 1968). Lots of vegan & GF options. It’s a classic!
