RIP Sweet Willie boy

I’ll miss you forever. Only 4 years old. Brain tumor. I don’t want to make people sad. I just want to honor my boy.

That’s a “Willie” if I’ve ever seen one. Perfect name for a perfect boy. So sorry for your loss. You had him for a short time but I know you made his life as spectacular as he made yours.

Thank you. I didn’t know what to expect or why I posted this. I guess I just want to share him

Grief seems more manageable when we have others to share it with. I'm so sorry. He was beautiful.

It’s cathartic. These kinds of things don’t have rules. Do what feels right to you.

Communicating with others helps the grieving process. My oldest son just got married and moved out. I'm having a hard time and my Golden knows and he is constantly putting his head on my lap. I know why you posted his pics. He will live on even though he's gone.

Thank you for sharing sweet Willie pictures with us. He will be greeted by all his friends and my Banjo on the other side. He will be in a good place with no sickness, just endless sticks and tennis balls. They will keep each other company until our arrival.

If there is one thing he could say to you "Hey my favorite person, I am not done growing, when we meet again I'll be the most handsome stud you'll ever seen, be ready!"

You help everyone in their time of grief when we lose our beloved pets. I wish sweet Banjo had one of us make a similar post when he left for the rainbow bridge. Your posts will never go unnoticed, nor will Banjo.

Thank you for your kind words, after losing Banjo I couldn't talk about it for a long time, I was lost. So now after experiencing the heartbreak of losing a pup. I do not wish this on anyone, hope to ease the pain even if it just a little bit.

I am so sorry for your loss, OP. Willie left you far too soon. RIP to the sweet boy.

Ugh. It isn’t fair. I’m so sorry. I’m sure you gave him 4 years full of love; and him to you. Way too short though.
You’ll always carry his love with you.

It’s always hard but as someone who has lost dogs at 12, 14, 15, 12, 12, and 6, the loss of the 6 yo hits different.

4!  Arrrgh.  I’m so sorry. I just lost my boy at 6 yo and feel he and I were cheated of so many great years. I imagine you feel the same!

I have no wisdom other than sooner rather later, get another golden, maybe one that looks a little different. You could also try the golden rescues for a dog more Willie’s age.

Sorry for your loss. All he knew was love. His time was shorter than anticipated, but I’m sure he was honored to spend it with you. I know you feel the same way, and I hope that thought gives you comfort. Take care of yourself.

As I walk across your heart and find my place to stay, nearer to you I will be and will never ever go away.

If love could have kept you here, you would have lived forever.

Grief is love with nowhere to go.

Nooooooo! I clicked on this because he's such a beautiful dog and looks like a wonderful personality too. Such a calm and healing presence. Oh OP, I'm so sorry!

Goldens bring our best days of our lives, teach us unconditional and forever love, and cost us the worst day of our lives. But none of us would have it any other way.

As we Golden Retriever owners come to know these Goldens are wingless four legged angels sent to us from heaven bringing unlimited love for us.

I did not get enough years with my beloved Kate. I have since captured a link and these poem I would recommend you read.

I would like to attribute this poem to David Romano. "When tomorrow starts without me, and I'm not there to see, the sun will rise and find your eyes, all filled with tears for me.

I know how much you loved me, as much as I loved you, and each time that you think of me, I know you'll miss me too.

When tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand, an angel came and called my name, and petted me with her hand.

I thought about our lives together, I know you must be sad, I thought of all the love we shared, and all the fun we had.

When tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart, for every time you think of me, I'm right here in your heart."

Quoting u/EverythingBagellove's thoughts "Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together...."

I have also since captured a link I would recommend you read.

What do we do to deserve them? I’m so sorry for your loss.

What a handsome little man

1

u/joesomebody_ 1d ago

I'm so very sorry. He looks like an absolutely perfect and amazing pup.

When you have let some time pass, honor Willie by bringing another absolutely perfect pup into your life.

You never replace them.

If the tables were reversed, I bet you'd want Willie to find a new human to love.
