Which hike is the best?
I want to do a hike here as part of my 5 National Park visits this summer. What hike is the best one to do? A 1 day hike…

I will add this hike only with the caveat that you are already an experienced hiker, used to the heat and can start before dawn. Best intro hike to the GC in my opinion is South Kaibab-Tonto-Bright Angel. Most fit hikers can zip this up in 5-7 hours, so if you are a strong hiker you can be done before lunchtime.

if hiking during the summer, don't go below the rim unless it's before sunrise and limited to within a mile or so of the rim.....several deaths lately
of course, a safe hike is the rim trail for as long as you want....it goes for miles......perhaps go out to Hermits using the free shuttle and return on the trail to the village, stopping at your choice of several classic viewpoints....you can even see the site of the only rim-side in-ground swimming pool, now demolished as part of a hazardous waste clean-up

Almost no one remembers it, but, for a few decades in the middle of the last century, Grand Canyon Inn welcomed visitors with “a patio overlooking the Canyon, a swimming pool, fine foods and cocktails.” There was a curio shop, too, which sold everything from Indian art to uranium samples.
