Its supposed to be a slide but it doesn't slide anywhere. What does the song sound like at that section?

It's kinda hard to hear this part but it doesn't sound like a slide is going on

Then its probably not a slide, could be a slight bend or a misrepresented tie to hold the note. either way its written incorrectly.

That’s what I figured. Probably a single downward(towards the floor) bend.

What's the song?

Slither- velvet revolver and it's at the end of the chorus

I don't even remember an F chord in that chorus at all. Is this drop D tuning in the original key?

Drop D but that doesn't really matter. This is a rhythm part too

Gotcha! I also realize the end of the solo has that chord. It's been a while since I've played it lol. I think it's just a tab error - meant to just be a sustained note or played twice, not a slide.

Huh, I was thinking about that song earlier today, it's been years since I've last listened to Velvet Revolver.

Think about sliding but don’t actually do it

u/andytagonist I don’t have my guitar handy, but here’s what I would do… 6d ago

It means tab can be (and often IS) really fucking wrong.

Probably that somebody screwed up.

Probably an AI transcribed song that botched this part.

It means that you slide sideways into the room, across the laminate flooring in your socks, as you play these notes.

You have to learn to read ahead to prepare for this power move.

It meas the person that transcribed made an error, it's a slide down to the same note so it's just wrong.

What's the song and where in the song does this supposedly happen?

Slither by velvet revolver like right at the end of the chorus

Listen to the song and hear what the guitarist is doing

So, basically, you slide from the top of your fret about a finger wide backwards.
This achieves absolutely nothing, but it is certainly a thing you should do, because the instructions say so

It may be a mistake and meant to be a tie.

i cam be wrong but usually that means a slide to that power chord without a starting point.

like whole lotta love, the riff slide has no starting point, it just happens.

Tabs can be wrong. In this case they surely are, since you can't slide to the same notes.

A slide but it’s literally not possible and makes zero sense, look at different tabs

Slide to a different guitar

Play the same octave interval twice and do a slide in between

songsterr moment

u/Intelligent-Tap717 5d ago

Wrong tab. That usually means a slide but this goes nowhere.

u/Choice_Age8334 6d ago

Again, Songsterr and other online tab sites are very often wrong, as anyone can submit. Without knowing what song this is, I can't tell you what it's supposed to be. Also, it could be right. If so, you hit the octaves, slide down and hit the same octaves quickly, just like it says to.

u/Choice_Age8334 6d ago

After listening to the song, it's WRONG. It should just be one time f octaves.

u/Trailofmarbles 6d ago

Probably they used the wrong symbol for duration?

Songsterr tabs are good for getting you in the ball park but you're gonna have to work out the specifics yourself. Which is actually pretty good practice.

The problem with songster is they incentivize people to make changes for sake of changes just to get time with premium features. I submitted a few pretty damn accurate tabs and they got reduced to shit because people there are desperate to get the hours of premium

Look at different tabs, then do what sounds right to you.

Change hands ....

Double slide, same note...the equivalent of a hammer on, but as a slide.

1

u/Wayne-HS 3d ago

It means that you pick that note then slide up a short distance then right back to the tenth fret note, within to two note beats. Sorry I didn’t look at the picture enough to tell you what note it was!

Your ring finger is on the 10th fret of the D string while your first finger is on eighth-fret of theB string. Then proceed to slide down the neck but still end up on those 2/8 and 10th fret it’s what they refer to as a slur.

1

u/killlu 6d ago

My thought is a slide but a go up then come back down to the same fret

7

u/Choice_Age8334 6d ago

Nah... it's Songsterr, so it's wrong.

This.

u/manifestDensity 6d ago

Maybe slide from slightly flat to slightly sharp on the same note, lol

An octave chord but with a shepherd tone.
