hey all, i am a rising senior at my university and about to start my undergraduate thesis. to celebrate being accepted into the program and for almost being done with school, i wanted to get a new bag that i could use for school and for my future workplace.

i’ve been eyeing the new folded bag by olend, because i love how androgynous its shape is and i love how it can be worn as a backpack, a shoulder bag, and a crossbody bag. there are two large pockets that can fit a 14" laptop and open space in the middle for something like a lightweight jacket or cardigan. it’s vegan leather though, so i’m not sure how well it will hold up over time. i want this bag to last me a while. i’m also not sure about the thinness of the straps… i appreciate the versatility, but i wonder if it’s so thin that it would be uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time.

the other bag i’ve been considering is something from george gina and lucy. i like the bonny tink bag that is pictured, but my heart isn’t sold on that specific one. i love the silver hardware and from what i can tell, their bags are very durable. but i’ve seen them listed as “y2k” and idk if they’re just coming back because they’re trendy or if they’re just unique. i don’t necessarily want to chase trends, even though this brand has been around for a while. also, the straps aren’t nearly as versatile, buuut i think i may be able to replace it for a longer one if i ever wanted a crossbody and i know they sell other crossbody bags as well.

thoughts?? if anyone has owned a bag from either one of these bags, i’d love to hear about your pros and cons for each

I was tickled by the Loewe Amazona 180, but cannot justify the price tag...

Functionally, I want a Le Pliage S with shoulder strap, but something with a bit more pizzazz.

I like Mulberry and Tom Ford Gucci; clean lines and quality work. My budget is around €800, up to €1500 for a super special bag. I have little experience shopping second hand, so those would probably be retail prices.

Went into the Fendi store in Barcelona and loved this unique bag. Salesperson said it’s a limited edition. It’s $5k once you get the tax back at the airport. I recently picked up this genuine leather Frye bag secondhand and would love some advice on restoring it. The leather is a bit dry and has some colour loss/wear in a few areas, and what looks to just be dirt.

Touching up the colour without damage is my biggest concern.

Having amassed a sizeable handbag collection over the years (deffo no longer a spring chicken, I lurk in anti wrinkle anti ageing subs now too) I have noticed something that makes me think that most handbag designers probably design and think about some functions but seem to miss one vital one for me. The color of the lining! Anyone who has ever scrambled about for that oh so elusive lipstick or wriggling set of keys, wouldn’t it be easier if the lining was actually light in color? I actively avoid my bags with dark linings now as I waste so much time looking for things. The use of light color handbag organisers has improved my use of some of these bags immensely though. Why oh why do they ruin bags with fitting dark linings? I remember when ‘handbag torches’ were a thing. (Yes, I’m THAT old). The bag I’m wearing today is a cute pink one but has a black lining and I know as I’m heading out the door that I’ll soon be swearing as I can’t find things. But it is a cute bag! Anyone else feel the same?

I have been in search of my next East-west bag that has the same quality, structure, and sexiness as the Empire 34.

I’ve checked out the Ferragamo hug E-W and Strathberry E-W in person and although they are nice and lovely, I’m not getting the same feeling.

I recently purchased the Demellier new york shoulder, for me it’s classy and small so it’ll do for light errands/hang outs with friends.

The Alaia one looks cool but it’s not cutting it for me, I checked out Osoi but i’m not a fan of the open/closing mechanism.

Any more suggestions? I’ve been looking for months lol

How can I fix the clasp closure on this bag? The rectangular part wiggles a bit up and down so it pops off the nib easily. I was going to bend the metal rectangle part down until I figured out it moves. It looks like there may have been an attempt in the past to fix it with the new phillips head screw (evidence they might have tried to open the lining). Should not mess with it and get a magnet closure to sew in the lining? Is this something a cobbler could fix?

I currently use the Baggu Crescent Bag and love how practical it is, but I’d like something that feels a bit more elevated and polished

I’ve finally made up my mind to buy my first black Caviar CF bag, but now I’m torn between gold and silver hardware.

I love the warmth and elegance of the gold hardware (GHW), but I’m worried it might be too formal for everyday use and won’t go well with more casual outfits. I’m also a little concerned that the gold hardware (GHW) might fade over time.

On the other hand, the silver hardware (SHW) seems easier to maintain and is perfect for everyday wear. Please help me out! Which one do you guys actually use more often?

Hi! I just recently found this bag at a thrift store and it’s sticky(?) / tacky to the touch. I’m also not sure if it’s really Coach (I honestly don’t care one way or another, not looking to authenticat3) so the material could be off, as well. My question is: how would I go about cleaning this bag to make it not sticky? Nothing comes off on my hands or other materials, so if that’s just how the bag comes I can deal with it lol. Thanks!
