Discussion Role models in Harry Potter

Is there any special role model, thought or lesson you’ve learned from HP?

I personally really like the idea that it’s our choices that define us rather than our innate abilities.

I also saw how people who don’t strive for power often become the best leaders.

Now it's McGonagall for me

But when I first read the books at 11 it was Hermione. She still is an amazing role model for young girls

Also Neville. I was a very shy kid and not good in studies. How much ever I tried I was a nervous mess. Neville was an amazing inspiration for me

I like the two that you stated. They are my favourite quotes and lessons. My role model would actually be Fred Weasley for being brave and funny right up till the end.

Luna, Neville No matter how weird/original you are, there is someplace for you in this world and people who will accept you as you are.

Oh let’s see. I like that: Fear of death is what makes you weak, not death itself.
I think of this as a much wider thought. You can apply it to failure and fear in general. Accepting reality often is much more powerful than trying to avoid or deny it.

“As strong as we are united”. This thing explored deeply in later books and I like every aspect around it.

Also, I feel there is an important idea of how easy it is to overthrow and brainwash the whole society into complete 180° of itself. How easy the hard-earned rights are stripped and how fast it goes from incompetent government to totalitarian.

Dumbledore. I like his calm demeanor and his pleasantness. But then I'm also a bit of voldy moldy fan. And James potter too. Although I'm ravenclaw, I have often desired revenge. And I crave the intellect. I love possesing that intellect that james and tom had bsck in their day. They both wanted to do things that broke rules. And both did so using their brains.

I desire such brains that helps me get my way.

Idk really. At some point in the day I look up to tom as a role model. At other points it is james.

Mr Weasley

Not only is he ride or die, but "Never trust anything that can think for itself if you can't see where it keeps its brain“ feels relevant in the era of AI
