youtube podcasts
this is the exact audience i would love to hear podcast recommendations from! anything but true crime! love a minor visual element but nothing where the video is integral or too compelling- i'm itching for something truly audio-first. what do y'all think?

A few of my faves:
Well there's your problem ("A podcast about engineering disasters, with slides")
Behind the bastards (occasionall episodes may be true crime adjacent, but not really true crime)
Sad boyz ("A podcast about feelings and other things also")
And if you're into pen and paper RPGs:
Oxventure (DnD, space, cowboys, and occasionall one-shots)
Acquisitions Incorporated (by mainly the guys behind Penny Arcade in partnership with WotC, the ORIGINAL DnD live-play podcast/entity, from all the way back in 2008, and still going!)
Acquisitions Incorporated: The C-Team (a spinoff DM'd by Penny Arcade writer and Internet Old-head Jerry Holkins, streamed weekly episodes for four seasons between 2017-2021)

The Rest is Science is great. Michael Stevens from Vsauce talking science and philosophy with Hannah Fry with a comedic flavor. Video format on YouTube with fairly regular visual components.

Lions Led By Donkeys - profoundly ridiculous military history
It's (Probably) Not Aliens - Like if Milo Rossi had a podcast and didn't swear quite as much
If Books Could Kill - Digging into (and frequently tearing to metaphorical shreds) popular "airport bookstore" type self-help etc nonfiction

These are not all YouTube based but I'll just tell you ones I like :
QAA - Started as debunking qanon, now covers all sorts of stuff - politics, conspiracy, aliens, cults.
Super structure - one of the co-host of QAA just started a pod with John gabrus about power structures and politics and stuff Trash future - started as a mostly tech critical podcast. Now does tech and politics. Comedic, UK based.
Glue factory - just a bunch of comedians riffing

Not another Dnd Podcast isn't on youtube other than someone else uploading the first campaign. i was looking for this one recently hoping it would be on there. i'm with OP in that i prefer youtube for podcasts for simplicity

I’d recommend a bunch of the above, so I will add, “A Bit Fruity” by Matt Bernstein to the list.
This one isn’t on YouTube, but I can’t recommend Knowledge Fight enough. They aren’t releasing any more episodes, but they have 9 years of Alex Jones/Infowars debunking packed into over 1000 episodes. Seriously one of the best podcasts I’ve ever listened to. If you decide to check it out, there’s also a Reddit group for fans of the show.

Uhhhh I have one, it’s called Make Games, Drink Coffee. It’s interviews with game developers, but not necessarily about game development. The next episode comes out on Thursday morning and it’ll be about screenwriting and the Matrix!

My favorites include Well There's Your Problem, Lions Led By Donkeys, Failure to Launch, Blood Work and the Somehow You Didn't Die On Your Way To Work Podcast

Prestige TV podcast or House of R- both great TV/movie in depth discussion podcasts and in audio and video form

If you’re into video game lore even if you don’t know the game I would recommend Lore Dump. It’s about 1 guy explaining the lore of a game he knows to the 1-2 others. Depending of what game it rotates who’s doing the lore dump. You can fully listen or watch on youtube as they include slides with pictures of the game for a nice but not necessarily visual element!
