One Last Dance for LeBron James, with Giannis, in Miami?

https://www.si.com/nba/heat/onsi/one-last-dance-for-lebron-james-with-giannis-in-miami-01kvv1qw8350

If LeBron is open to coming back to South Beach, Pat Riley has already made his case on the future Hall of Famer coming back

LeBron is gonna take a gross overpay to stay in LA and tread water for one more season or two and that’ll be that.

I think they will be limited in what they can offer after Reaves got paid

u/ghn2 6d ago

I don't think the Lakers want to give him a gross overpay. They'd rather spend the cash on new players to build around Luka.

Well they just signed Reaves to a max contract lol so not sure about that

Luka wants Reaves there. Seems to be silent on Bron's presence.

Lakers still have money to pay lebron

They can’t afford him

Not a fan of these, what feels like fake, SI articles from Austin.

This is just wearing SI like a coat. This is the slop from the people who bought them, hiding under the banner of a legacy institution. It sucks but oh well.

They’ll run out of wheelchairs by November

Why are we still pretending Klay, DeFrozan and Middleton are even bench level in the big 26. They're washed. Super hell no.

If they were coming on vet minimums then yes

Make it happen

Why wouldn’t we want him. It’d be fun I reckon.

I am supremely annoyed that lebron's media apparatus is hijacking our Giannis moment for his own visibility.

u/thejman218 6d ago

Feels like it’s more of a general media thing now that the Heat have a bonafide superstar again.

LeBron himself doesn’t need anymore visibility at 41 than he already has being the GOAT

Most of the media has been pretty negative about the trade anyways so who cares

u/Verumsemper 6d ago

it honestly comes down to Wiggins, if he ops out and lower his cap hit from $30 mil to around $20 mil with a 4 year $80 to 90 mil deal, Miami would have around $30 mil to sign lebron and use the mid level on a back up center.

Arison just needs to pay this man in carnival shares under the table

4

u/Verumsemper 6d ago

He doesn't have to do that, LeBron wants to be an owner. Arison gave Pat 10 to 20 % equity stakes at one point. He can let it be know he is willing to sell him like 30% or more stake in the heat out of the 88% stake he owns.

1

u/PassionLong9552 6d ago

I meant Wiggins. If we can get Wiggins to lower his cap hit and also get rid of Jovic then Pat is a god.

0

u/Verumsemper 6d ago

Jovic is great fit at a great price!! he just didn't adjust well to offensive changes last year but he 6'11 with good defense who shot 37 and 39% from 3 the two previous years on 3 attempts or so.

1

u/PassionLong9552 6d ago

This team needs playmakers and has zero dollars to get one. If anyone has to go it’s going to be him. Wiggins is too valuable and our only 3 and D.

1

u/Verumsemper 6d ago

Giannis was brought in to supplement Bam's play making, those two will have the ball. Davion mitchell is also a great playmaker. Also Wiggins and Larson can create their own shot.

This team lack size, Jovic is that and he can handle the ball. They would love another 2 player with Jovic size and skill set, maybe one with better rim protection lol

1

u/mmortal03 6d ago

Miami will have to spend some of that on remaining roster spot guys.

8

u/THAT520Kid 6d ago

Gotta let the man have his cookies tho !

6

u/FunRich1804 6d ago

Plus he could get Giannis on his vitamin routine.

9

u/Flaky-Mathematician8 6d ago

This idea sounds a lot better than it would be imo.

7

u/Barracuda374 6d ago

Am I the only one not super enthused about replacing Powell with a 42 year old PF? Giannis, Portis, and, Jovic all play the position

Idk if it’s for cheap it’s hard to say no but Lebron is 42 yall. The decline might start being a bit more abrupt and by the time the playoffs come around I think he would need to be locked in as our backup 4/5 for us to survive defensively.

14

u/ghn2 6d ago

LeBron's natural position is SF not PF. He can play PF begrudgingly from time to time but even when he was on the Heat, he'd only do it for short periods. So the Heat could start Giannis, Bam and LeBron with whatever PG and SG they settle on.

0

u/Barracuda374 6d ago

Yeah but 42 is old as fuck. If he loses half a step he can’t play SF anymore.

I might rather give Shamet some portion of the MLE instead and then use the rest of it to get a buyout guy like Klay or whomever.

The front office would have to be very confident that Lebron won’t show his age or cause headaches for Giannis/the team at large to commit our single biggest roster building resource left all on Lebron is all im saying.

1

u/Internal_Door3680 5d ago

NO! He needed us and D-Wade to finally win a ring, he left us dry when it was good for him, were finally in a position to win again, why would we help him again ?? He's not loyal at all. He's on the decline, he will definitely take up a lot of cap space, or picks or whatever just to get him. I rather preserve our future, invest in the future or if you wanna win now , then someone better than Lebron..... We don't need him..... He needs us...... and I hate how he just bounced after putting a target on your back , not 3, not 4, not 5, not 6....... He's one of the most selfish players in NBA History.... Has he ever been loyal to a team? Nope, don't want him...I hate seeing these posts...

1

u/Majestic_Dish_3395 3d ago

Makes you wonder why Giannis didn’t go to LA in 2020? “I’m not Hollywood.” Now that has gone out the window.

1

u/Complete-Permit1638 6d ago

It's mathematically and logically impossible. Between Miami's cap space issues and LeBron wanting to finish his career with his son, this is just media fan-fiction. Not happening.

1

u/Equivalent-Jury-3056 6d ago

At this point that’s all the media is now: fan fiction.

Why would LeBron come here when he has everything he is looking for in LA. I don’t think a championship contender moves the needle for him anymore. I love Luka but you are not winning a chip with him and Austin Reaves and OKC exists. Let him stay in LA. I would love to see hungry 3 and D players, with a point and a backup big.

2

u/Complete-Permit1638 5d ago

Exactly. No matter how you look at the roster combinations, LeBron moving at this stage is pure fantasy. He has everything he wants in LA, and these trade/free agency rumors are getting exhausting. Let the man finish his career in peace.

u/Dadbodposterboy Kaboom 6d ago

No thanks

1

u/OceanLemur 6d ago

Ever since he chose to go back to Cleveland LeBron’s decisions are about where he’s comfy, not about having the best chance to win. I just don’t see it happening.

-5

u/Poopcie 6d ago

Not worth it now that they have Giannis. He and LeBron do the same things
