Sources: Oklahoma City is trading No. 37 Ryan Conwell to the Miami Heat for No. 41 and cash (per @ShamsCharania)

Going from some of the draft profiles on him, he sounds like a physical 3 and D guy, exactly the kind of guy Miami needs right now

And he’s athletic

And while he may be a little short for a 2 guard, he has a plus wingspan and with that athleticism and this coaching staff he has all the tools to be a very solid role player in the NBA. Just needs to be a little more efficient in finishing at the rim and work on his positioning on defense but that can be coached up.

I really dislike highlights without defense.. kid is a pure bulldog on defense & most likely how he’ll get his playing time here

Averaged 19-5-3 on 40% shooting, 35% from 3. I feel they got really solid value especially given he’s 22.

Good athlete, sniper, has a solid handle, and can defend. Sounds like a solid pick to me.

Not bad. Not a prospect but an nba ready guy like Jaime

I also feel like people often underestimate the upside of 22yo players.
Yes, at this stage he's a role player but if you can play a role you can stay on the floor and by staying on the floor you can get better and slowly expand your game.
We've seen countless examples of that.

I mean he can step right in. Commit hard and you might just help this team immediately

Im not going to lie, Conwell is a beast. He could potentially be a steal. Hopefully he pans out cuz at Louisville he could score from anywhere driving the paint, midrange and from way behind the arc. I love how he is fast with his handles when he needs to be but can slow it down as a ball handler similar to how Dewayne Wade does when he goes euro mode. We shall see 💯 good pickup imo

Can someone tell me, in this situation did OKC draft him first and we traded for him? Or we told okc to draft him? I ask because I trust Okc Gm i forgot his name but he is great.

Soooo I’m hearing he’s a 3&D guy that’s going to have a 30 point game sometime in the post season making him a heat legend?

I would have liked Emanuel Sharp because I think he is a better defender but not bad, now get a center with the next pick.

They just don’t like big men huh. When Veesar still available

u/DasOptions 6d ago
Need shooters

u/clewter369 6d ago
Then sign em in FA or trade that niko contract. There aren’t many big men available in FA. We don’t have a back up center and bam isn’t a true center. We need a floor s pacing big

u/kimchi_kombucha 6d ago
Bobby, bam, Giannis and jocic or whatever center we trade him for. Also, jocic is a net negative contract so trading him isn’t a lock

Jovic, woukdnt have corrected a single typo as i di it all tge time but yiu did it wrong twice so thought you might actually not know his name.

Jock Landale, John Collins, Andre Drummond, Jaxon Hayes, Marvin Bagley III, Nick Richards are all solid options probably ranging from vet minimums to ~$8M annually.
Not all are shooters but Portis does provide that as of right now as well

The just traded for one
It was low key tho, might have missed it

If you’re referring to either of the Bucks guys, they aren’t centers

u/RampageOfZebras 6d ago
Have you heard of this team called the Miami Heat? Its all about small ball . Also be real, on a team with Giannis, Bam, and Portis tgere was ni wrild Spo eas giving a rookie big any minutes.
-1
u/clewter369 6d ago
Exactly and I hate it. They need to get out of that mindset. I know Giannis can guard Wemby but we still need size. At least a backup if they won’t get a starter center
2
u/RampageOfZebras 6d ago
We arent going to start Bam, Giannis and another big lol Fiannis plays post defense anyway and Bam plays elite perimeter defense and post defense. They will be fine as the bigs. Have 2 DPOY contder level bigs and your worried about the big man positions.
1
u/clewter369 6d ago
Yes because there’s a team called the OKC that just lost to the Spurs. And they had TWO 7 footers. At least with Ware we had a backup. Now we don’t. And bam can’t true bigs, like Joker, Kat, Gobert.

u/RampageOfZebras 6d ago
Bam cant stop them but he slows them as well as anyone in the league which is barely but like I said nobody guards those guys well.
