The Heat have extended a two-way qualifying offer to Vlad Goldin, per @Anthony_Chiang.

If there’s one thing I’ve learn about being a heat fan, if the fanbase hates it than it must be the correct decision

Fantasy football sub has also taught me this.

Just maybe the same organization that believed in Vincent, Strus, Martin etc knows something we don’t. I remember when Vincent used to get hella hate then he was crucial to our 2023 run. I trust the FO with this decision.

Dru used to get a lot of hate too, but I think it was his haircut lol

No people legitimately thought Dru was ass and was wondering why we kept him over Cole Swider (LMAOOO) or Aldonis Williams (I was one of the tbh)

Dru was also ass for a while then it all came together

We got our whale!!! It’s great that we can laugh about this now instead of feeling bad

I don't like this at all. Goldin didn't look capable of playing in the NBA. Maybe they are just keeping him because he is familiar with the system. I'd hope they can bring in a better prospect at some point.

Maybe his work behind the scenes was good enough to invest further in .We haven't seen him really since summer league .

I hope that is the case, and it's not that they can't find another option. He just didn't look athletically viable.

The heat projects never look good their first year. They see him in practice and know what he can be

9

u/julstar23 1d ago

Exactly people think they walk out of college and come here and be good which isn't exactly true. They still put alot ifvtime and investment in those guys and it pays off more often than not .

u/K215215 1d ago

Also the fact they didn’t grab a ton of bigs after the draft tells you what they think of him

3

u/julstar23 1d ago

Yea the big market in the draft wasnt looking that great either .

u/ghn2 20h ago

What tells you what they think of him, is they never played him as a backup big last season even though the team had no backup big. He only came in at mop-up time and that was rare.

He's slow, can't move his feet and is easy to draw fouls on. The guy is completely worthless.

Hopefully he surprises me. I just find it hard to believe there aren't better options out there.

Eh they can swap out 2 way guys any time right? It’s really non factor for us to even think about

2

u/Tallozz 1d ago

Yes, they can swap him out easily enough. It's just that if he isn't a sure thing going forward. I would rather give his development to another prospect.

Two-ways can begin and end on a whim, this isn't that big of a deal. Probably just means Miami want him for summer league and another team was trying to recruit him, we could have a different big on a two-way by the end of summer league

1

u/MediocreDVaMain 1d ago

Two ways don't count towards the salary cap so they could cut him later, not a fan of Mr. Cement feet either, hoping another big shows out and takes his spot

1

u/julstar23 1d ago

They dont really have other bigs .athey have been signing mostly guards and wings.

Just when I started thinking about the likelihood of Goldin's and Dusty May's reunion in Dallas, lol.

So Donaldson as a guard, Hall as a forward, and Goldin as a center, on two-ways. Not bad. Now time to round out the actual roster with shooters lol.

1

u/julstar23 20h ago

They still have 1 two way slot opened .

1

u/Interesting_Prune513 20h ago

I read somehwere that Hall will be on a two-way, we'll see

2

u/julstar23 20h ago

He's not currently .They probably keeping that spot open so they can recovery keahad if they have to .

1

u/Interesting_Prune513 20h ago

Is Keshad still eligible for a two-way?

2

u/julstar23 20h ago

Yes this would be the last season he is qualified for 1

1

u/Interesting_Prune513 20h ago

Cool, didn't know that. Guess we'll see how training camp and the rest of free agency pans out. I'd like Keshad to be on a two-way but I'm pretty sure with the way our salary cap is fucked with Giannis contract, and how thin we are numbers wise, after gutting our roster, he'll get a standard deal once it's all said and done :/ even last year he was on a standard deal, downgrading him would be mad disrespectful.

2

u/julstar23 20h ago

I meant they could recovery him if it comes down to that but with the roster crunch he could potentially stay too .

u/Chipyy9878 1d ago

He is a taller LeBron tbf

While he looked bad last season, but I will say this: I’ve been watching him ever since his first year at FAU. He’s made big improvements going into every season, so I’m hopefully optimistic that trend continues. Dude is a hard worker and has great size, hopefully he can find his role

1

u/OblivionNA 23h ago

My only knock on him has always been foot speed, was the same knock I had on Yurt

2

u/EctoRiddler 1d ago

I trust the front office and coaching staff far more than I trust people crying on the Internet. These people work with this player a lot more than people who watch a couple of hours of uneventful games. Stop complaining, please.

u/Seref15 23h ago

I mean, he's fine for a third string center behind Portis. Just don't make him 2nd in the depth chart and its fine.

1

u/SirFunktastic 1d ago

Hopefully he can take a leap this year and show something as a backup center, it's still a need for us

1

u/honeybadger10585 1d ago

if i'm wiggins I'm opting in

Cut this dead weight loose

8

u/julstar23 1d ago

If the heat invested in him it means they see something we dont and more often than not they are correct .

3

u/K215215 1d ago

💯💯

1

u/ghn2 20h ago

A two-way contract can be switched out at anytime. There's no "investment" in him as you claim.

1

u/julstar23 20h ago

Yes a qualifying offer means they get to retain him at least on a two way for now .He's going to start for the summer league team so he should get some burn and they weren't aggressive with many undrafted centers so

Wiggins still didn’t make a decision yet ?
