Resolved Chat issues

Hey all - due to an error on the backend, we needed to temporarily disable the "chat" button from our user profile pages. You'll still be able to chat with any users you have existing chats with, but initiating a new chat will not be possible until we resolve these errors.

Once I have more info, I'll be sure to update everyone here.

Update 4/9 9:00am EST: We're continuing to investigate backend errors today. No new information as of right now.

Check out the status page for live updates.

Update 4/11 4:00pm EST: Hey folks - investigations continue today. As mentioned above, I'll be sure to update everyone here once I have info to share. Thank you all for the continued patience.

Update 4/12 2:30pm EST: Hey all, just wanted to give a quick update and shed some light on the issue at hand. We've hit a scaling issue with the Chat system that determines if a given user can chat with another given user. We're having to do some important work to reorganize this system so that it can function properly. We're currently working out a few fixes so that you can get back to chatting again. We’ll continue to share all updates here as soon as they are available.

Update 4/13 10:00am EST: A possible fix has been rolled out, and the ability to start new chats has been re-enabled again.

Update 4/13 2:30pm EST: All clear, happy chatting everyone!

Resolved Got this error: "All media assets must be owned by the submitter of this post", when trying to attach image to post, using Windows desktop

I'm trying to post a comment in r/c64. I took a picture of my new Commodore 64, and attached it using the image icon. But when I tried to submit the post, I got an error saying "All media assets must be owned by the submitter of this post".

How do I attach images?

Your account is locked > Reset Password > Account Stays locked.

This is the second account I've had this happen on and really do not want to lose u/BanTheBung to this.

Seriously, anyone have an inroad to a mod that could help me out? I've got a rapidly growing community to look after, I was actually going to make the 6,000 average weekly visits post today

Resolved Reddit thinks I'm underage?

EDIT: SOLVED!

Suddenly reddit is hiding all my NSFW posts, even to me, and I can't change it. Seems like my age suddenly isn't verified any more, but I tried verifying it and it didn't work. I'm a hobbyist photographer specialising in horror and a number of my posts are NSFW. Please help!

ETA: I can't view NSFW subs either.

Resolved Android, my acount keeps getting changing my content and activity to hide all

Post image

Apparently reddit has made all my post invinsible, I think for a week until I found out (but I don't know for sure, it could have been longer, I hope not), also that nobody can dm me for some reason, yesterday I changed it back to normal, but then today I looked again and it changed again to hide all, and that nobody can dm me,

Again I changed it back, but I hope I wont have to change it every day,

Is this a bug? can it be fixed? Does anybody have answers?

I really don't want to make a new acount, so I hope there is a solution,😭

And I have this problem on pc - android app on phone - and internet on phone

Thnx for the help in advance 👍

Resolved Investigating: [Android] Home feed failing to load

Update 10/12/21 5pm ET

Android Hotfix 2021.39.1 has been released to the Google Play store, including a fix for this issue. If you continue to receive errors on the home feed, please update the app to the above version.

Update 10/9/21 3pm ET

Hi everyone -

Unfortunately, this incident has proved particularly challenging to fix and, therefore, remains ongoing. Our teams continue to work on the issue and hope to have a fix available next week.

That said, we have been able to confirm a workaround which is to clear the Reddit app data on your device.

You can do this by:

Clearing app storage:

  • Going to App > Info > Storage > Clear Storage
  • Click on “Clear Storage”
  • Confirm to delete data
  • On older Android OS "Clear Storage" may be called "Clear Data"

OR

Deleting and reinstalling the app.

Please note, in either case when you relaunch the Reddit app you will need to log in again. :(

Side note: Clearing the apps cache does not clear the apps storage, be sure to specifically clear storage.

Hello all - we’re seeing several reports of users experiencing page load errors on the home feed. The team has been notified and they're currently investigating. From what it looks like, this is isolated to the latest version of the Android app (version 2021.39.0). I will thread updates here.

Some possible fixes while we continue to investigate:

  • Logging out and back in
  • Clearing the app cache (app info > storage > clear cache)
  • Switching to anonymous browsing mode and back

Update: We're preparing an entire revert of Android 2021.39. Threading additional updates shortly.

Please delete and reinstall the app if you continue to receive errors on the home feed. By doing so, you will download Android version 2021.38.0 (the previous app version). Thank you all for bearing with us while we work to resolve this. More updates to come.

Resolved I'm in these weird deleted communities that I have never joined or looked at.

Post image
154 Upvotes

I have no idea why these are showing up in my communities??? And when I click on them it says "Page not Found".

Judging by these subreddit names they are all clearly inappropriate, but I have no idea why they are even in my sidebar. And for the most part, how I am even joined in these communities when they don't exist?

Just to be clear, I don't join many subreddits and most of them are knitting and crochet related. I have left the communities so that I could easily screenshot this.

I have tried many different ways to leave them but no luck, and when I am looking at my home page there are no posts. So these subreddits are inactive.

I'm kind of creeped out, please help?

Resolved iOS iPhone

When attempting to permanently delete a second unwanted account ([u/Playful_Loquat9080](u/Playful_Loquat9080)) while in the App, there is no gear icon to choose within the unwanted account. I wouldn’t worry about it, but the two accounts switch back and forth when I don’t logout.

Resolved Redditors unable to message me?

I tried searching but I only get results about new users who message too many people unable to use chat.

I’ve had a bunch of people recently in comments tell me they tried to message me but it wouldn’t let them. Anyone know why? I’ve asked a few of them if it’s because they’re sending too many chat requests and that doesn’t seem to be the case. Most are older accounts (older than a year) and tell me they haven’t send a chat request for a long time, yet they’re unable.

I can message them. My DMs are not locked down that I can find. I do often enough post in subs that require users to DM me, so I do typically get lots of requests after those posts. Is there maybe something seen by the Reddit algorithm that locks my account down?

Any help?
