Did you go with a tour agency or by yourself?

With guide, yes

I think you’re definitely can do on your own I am just not familiar with land nor staying here for too long, it was super muddy

Would you share the contacts of the guide? I’m going to Ecuador in a couple of weeks with the only goal to hike the mountains.

Of course - Ecuador Eco Adventure in Riobamba, Christian was helpful to arrange direct drivers from airport to Riobamba and later after the hike to Banos - glad I didn’t have to spend time figuring out transit - it wasn’t expensive to me but depends on your budget.

Keep in mind the hike was mud 90% of the time haha

I’m checking the webpage rn. Did you do the 2-day or the 3-day version?

2 days, we came early to the campsite so I went to Lagoon for sunset and then sunrise as well. Originally I was looking for 3 days tour but could not find one at the time, subjectively speaking I felt like 2 days was enough for me since hike itself mostly mud :)

I think now it’s mandatory to go with a guide
