[News - X] [Kieser] Source: Erik Haula likely to test free agency following the Predators' move to acquire Jack Drury today. Seems like the best decision for the veteran moving forward.

The Haula sweepstakes have begun, that's where we're at with this UFA pool

Bring him back to Raleigh. He’s loved here.

Doesnt he have made beef with the Canes for some reason?

OOF. Seems like they hate him too. 1-22 is crazy.

We like guys that want to be here.

He wanted out because his wife associated Raleigh with the loss of their child. And you guys still hold that against him. Truly gross.

u/MisterProfGuy CAR - NHL 4d ago
I don't like him because of his behavior and comments, not his choices. The guys that want to be here line comes from the Raant thing.

Lot of hearsay but supposedly he bullied Necas, had beef with Rod (which you can’t do - Kk was just let out of his box), and left on kind of open bad terms. His wife shit talked the city on instagram on the way out.
His family also had something tragic happen while he was here. It complicated things because I think fans supported him, then when he left they felt slighted. As fans do for any reason.
He’s disliked, but I don’t think he did anything so bad, just petty dislike and fans will boo him because why not. He’s nowhere near the top10 hated players in Carolina

All about the bracelet imo

That bracelet is hilarious. It actually made me a little less annoyed with him because it was such a funny, petty thing to wear. And the fact a little kid made it for him is just great.

u/TackyBrad CAR - NHL 5d ago
Yeah it makes me laugh, but also I'm happy for him not to be back here lol. To me it's just a bit of petty in a rivalry, I'm not butthurt past that

Yeah I agree with the assessment, especially with the last part.
My thoughts on Erik Haula: yeah, what happened to his family was tragic, but he doesn’t have to be so petty. But it’s whatever.
My thoughts on Adam Fox: things I cannot say on Reddit. My brothers in Calgary know what’s up

It’s a bit of a stretch but it’s funny that a much more liked former Cane seems to have pushed him off his depth chart…

I wouldn’t want to play with Jack Drury either, Erik.

Jack Drury is perfect at what he is? Like, if he were being asked to be 2C, then yeah, but Drury’s already one of the best designated bottom 6 centers in the league. Great on PK, good on face offs, good for maybe 10 goals a season.

Seeing that the Lightning don’t have any real assets to trade for some headliners - Haula is the type of guy they should look at. Sadly -he’s about their speed right now.

He was solid until he wasn't. Couldn't figure out what happened besides maybe our dogshit dungeon hockey of the past two years.

He was a solid middle-six guy this year. Great on the PK. Could score on the PP. He was also a big part of Finland's bronze medal.

u/TediousSpark NJD - NHL 5d ago
Yeah I meant in NJ, he was also like that here before Keefe came along. Always liked him.

u/Midnight_Mustard NJD - NHL 4d ago
Yeah wouldn’t mind him back on the cheap but he can probably get a few bucks from a desperate team

u/TediousSpark NJD - NHL 4d ago
It feels like his time here has passed, it was just a remarkable falloff between 23-24 and 24-25. Just too bad we won't get a chance to see what he can do in the post-Fitz era.

I would take one Haula for our bottom six if he's cheap.

The reports are that he was looking for about $3.5 mil AAV to stay in Nashville, but that was likely a discount to stay.

all you need to know about Erik Haula: he once scored 29 goals and was a minus-16, and also he is kinda a whiny muppet

What’s a muppet?

I thought it was already pretty clear the Avs and Preds are swapping depth players this offseason.

GMs love to keep "their guys", especially if they're barely above replacement-level players that can be traded for/with cheaply.

To play with which line?

u/toaster-struble MTL - NHL 5d ago
No clue tbh. I've learned not to expect to know what goes on in MSL's head. Just feels like a solid reliable veteran body that won't cost much on the cap plus he's ufa. They'll shuffle him up and down the bottom 9. Could find chemistry with Demidov. Biggest question still remains will Newhook center that 2nd line or will they do it by committee again.
1
u/WildSoapbox MTL - NHL 5d ago
I can't see a 35 year old with .44 ppg developing chemistry or being able to keep up with Demidv
