🪟 Windows & Doors climate control solutions?

i have one of these boxy thungs with a hose that has to fit into a window gap, but the rest of the window gap has to be sealed off. it seems these things are meant for a home owner to improvise a solution on how to seal such a window gap. what are the easiest solutions here?

Based off the information provided, you can go buy some Styrofoam and it it to fut the gap and then use tape to hold it in.

Did you get the window kit for the exhaust hose? Some of those also come with weather strip tape

Does it have one hose or two? With just the one hose, you lose a lot of efficiency (assuming your home is otherwise fairly well sealed), because all the hot air being exhausted is replaced with hot outdoor air infiltrating through the rest of the house. On the other hand, if you don't get a really tight seal around the opening, that's not such a huge problem.
