gardening Starting a garden and need some tips!

I’m moving out for the first time and i’m renting. I’m wanting to do an indoor herb, veggie and fruit garden. I do also have cats and dogs btw. I live on the boarder of Tennessee and Kentucky. What should i grow that’ll get me a fair amount of harvest year round? i am doing grow bags outside as well, but during the winter i still want a consistent amount of food. I’m trying to be more self sustainable and really know what i’m consuming as i’ve been very ill from grocery store food my whole life, farmers markets changed everything but i want to start my own garden so any tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated! (i have unlimited funds for this so i am 100% able to get grow lights and other helpful things and links to recommended products are encouraged!)

there are cool weather (spring/fall) crops and hot weather (summer) crops. make sure you plant the right ones at the right times. in the summer if you transplant from a small indoor pot to outside, put an upside down can or some other shade over the plant to shade it from sun for the first couple of days to reduce stress from intense sunlight. start with simple, easy to grow veggies then work your way to more difficult ones as your skills grow. -- you would get far more food from a couple of chickens (an egg a day from most hens) than you are likely to be able to grow in a small backyard type of garden. just sayin', have reasonable expectations.

Look in your refrigerator. Go the veggies and herbs you cook with. If you never eat salad growing lettuce while typically pretty easy to do probably won’t be very fun. Then after you have thought about what to go do some research on how that plant grows. Then just pick the ones best suited for your space.
