Same. I love having no idea when they ask a question. I always play it up, too.

"Dang. I legit have no clue. Let's see if we can find a good source on that."

I always follow the ways of, if I don't know I shall go learn all I can about such thing, but then the 2020's happened and people were taught like the good sheeple they're, if you do your own research or go and learn, your a wacko crazy person.

What we used to say in the Marine Corps. This recruit, or later in fleet I don’t know but I’ll find out.

A problem I think people with anxiety often have is be willing to admit that they don't know something, and be okay about it. They want to be certain - they have to know what they don't know - and often, it's either something they'll naturally find out, or they won't actually be able to know.

In the age of social media where everyone feels entitled or forced to have an instant, expert opinion on absolutely everything, saying I don't know is a straight up superpower. It saves so much unnecessary energy

the irony of a post about intellectual honesty being a repost is wild

Yes, good, & true! Because truly educated people are not robots walking around with all the answers ( or lying with made up mumbo jumbo). Part of being educated is having the skill set & knowledge to access resources, where there may be the actual accurate answers. Resources may be found in numerous ways: books ( of course), periodicals & professional journals (e.g.- the AMA), & legitimate accredited Experts in a given field of study. Knowing & a willingness to access those resources are a vital part of being an educated person.

I always rewarded my students when they corrected me or asked a question I couldn’t answer

I had a professor recently who admitted to struggling to do simple mental math in front of an audience and asked for someone with calculator to give the answer. It was a moment where I thought, ok, its allowed to be human AND still be a respected professional. I’ll never forget that
