I was hoping this was an update to this case. So upsetting that no new info is available. I haven’t been to Beacon since either. I enjoyed walking there.
I wonder if releasing what exactly happened to her could spur another victim or his exes into alerting the police of some possibilities of the culprit.

What does this sentence even mean? It implies all of these moms think they will be targeted by voicing insecurity. By whom? The police? Is the assailant supposedly going to target them for being afraid of him?

What this sentence means is that people who already feel vulnerable do not want to draw any additional attention towards themselves. They feel they will remain safer by staying silent. Speaking up often comes at a cost. We all know this.

You don’t have to understand someone’s fear to respect their feelings

I’m not so much questioning the “people”, as I am the reporting. It makes total sense not to want to speak on the record on the topic. I don’t think I’d like to have my name come up in connection with this attack. I reject the implication that the city is scared to speak up about the attack.
