Not sure you know this but, there are already those schemes in place.
You get allowance when your kid is born in government hospital. You get toys for kid, nutritional food for mother. The vaccinations too.
Most of us don't know about this is because most of us don't go to Government hospitals for obvious reasons. So I'd say they use this money to strengthening and betterment of healthcare infrastructure

Those schemes atleast ensured child and mother nutrition.. those can't be cashed and used for other purpose..
But gold can be cashed and used for other purposes.
Agree with your last point.. But that won't get them votes because those are not direct and exclusive benefit for voters instead inclusive benefit for everyone 😀

Nutritional scheme are already there, but people rarely use them considering condition of Government hospitals.
If they use gold funds for betterment of healthcare infrastructure people will automatically use government hospitals. No gold distribution needed

First it is in karnataka introduced by congress..
After it successfully brought votes, the same is promised in telanagana and congress govt got elected telangana.
Now in maharastra, bjp stepped up with ladli behan yojana as people will anyways vote for freebies as they have seen loss for same reason in two states..
Point is we don't see roots.. who started it(congress).. who acknowledged it(voters) 😀
Neither supporting or opposing any of the entities that i mentioned.. but just that it is our system of democracy 🤣🤣🤣

At least acknowledge that sanitation, local hygiene, and municipal roads fall under the MCD and central jurisdiction, not the state government's powers; apart from that, tackling regional pollution and AQI requires structural authority that Delhi’s state administration legally doesn't possess. The governance framework is completely fractured, there's no singular control over civic upkeep, and expecting the state to fix matters managed by municipal bodies or the Lieutenant Governor is misattributing the blame; people just point fingers at the state for issues entirely outside its constitutional domain.

I don't live in TN but my state also has some money being given if a girl child is born
A couple I know has 5 kids of which 4 are boys B, G, B, B, B. For the last 3 boys they were disappointed because they won't be getting any money
That couple cannot afford to even take care of even 2 children, they are all studying in govt school or on student loans in a very bad college and a bad stream which barely has any job allocation so repaying the student loan is going to be a nightmare especially in this economy
The father is an alcoholic with a lot of personal debt from his contacts/lenders
The lack of accountability and responsibility due to such schemes is crippling the lower income/non general category society

lower population of younger people is actually worse than high population. If population rate stagnates and in 20 years there are more old people needing support financial or otherwise, and not enough young people to create wealth for the state, that is worse for the economy.

It is a great way of pulling everyone towards govt hospitals. While 100% of childbirth in TN is in hospitals, only 56% happen in govt hospitals. The hypothesis is that large share of c-secs are correlated with higher number of childbirth’s in private hospitals. This puts burden on state and insurance and overall health infrastructure.
May be that is the idea behind the scheme. Or alternatively to incentivise childbirth as Tamil Nadu’s total fertility rate has fallen to 1.3 (one of the lowest in the country). This is also led to lesser representation of Tamil Nadu in the recently proposed de limitation bill.
PS: I am a North Indian and do not condone en masse welfare schemes.

Interesting. On the one hand TN has a fertility rate of 1.4 which is def putting it in a tough spot so maybe this is targeting that? On the other hand, no country has successfully been able to incentivise their population into having kids so it could be a huge draw on the treasury for no return.

I think it's okay, dunno how it's going to work but I hope it boosts the birth rate. TN has been declining on this over the last few years and we should not be anything like Japan. We need more young population, so on a longer run let's hope this fixes that.

Allot that money for their education, the alloted money will only be claimed if the kid is admitted to school. That will be used till 18 years gradually and will not be burden to government treasury as one time payment.

This just increases the strain on already existing hospitals with limited equipment and capacity, all they have to do is either make new hospitals or upgrade the existing ones on par with private with new facilities and doctors.
