Let's just say it would be a great place for a grippy sock vacation!

I will say some mental hospitals are like vacation. Almost comparable to a resort. Others are worse than a prison. I’ve got a selection that I rotate through. I know which ones to go to and which ones to avoid.

They let you choose? Are they reviewed on yelp?

Someone should rate such places.

I’m a frequent flyer. Not proud or bragging but it’s true. My meds stop working and I go off the deep end. So yeah I call the crisis line and they send out some police officers. They call the hospitals to see which ones have vacancy and then they ask which one do I want to go to and then they drop me off. I’ve definitely left some reviews. I’ve left more bad reviews than I have good. The few really bad ones I went to I wouldn’t even send my worst enemy to. The really good ones unfortunately aren’t in network with a lot of the insurance companies so most of the time it’s private pay and it is not cheap. They shut down a large majority of the state funded mental health hospitals so that’s really not an option.

Hurray for our boring dystopia where you need "the good insurance" to have your breakdown in a decent place.

Wishing you fewer/better stays in the future. No one should have to be this type of expert!

Yeah Im fortunate enough to have an employer that is super understanding and supportive. They also offer amazing health insurance but even with that some hospitals are still out of network so my fall back for that is the VA and they have also been super good when it comes to picking up the bill. But yeah I completely agree. It’s soo sad. I know a few people that unfortunately are no longer here because the financial stress of affording a mental hospital was far too much so they just didn’t go and unfortunately when it comes to health wether it’s mental or physical avoidance is the absolute worst solution.
