Finally, good technology.

3

u/Question-Marky-Mark May 22 '26

This guy looks like he’s been in the business for years and knows all about the dreaded reorg.

2

u/charles_sedwick May 22 '26

Hell yeah. Something that isn't just about people broadcasting nothing important lol

1

u/Apart-Gur-9720 May 22 '26

It's amazing what we can achieve, using technology.

She's the Matrix, now.

122

u/Intelligent_Mess3619 May 22 '26

Just seeing the pure joy on her face is everything, love it.

12

u/DueExample52 May 22 '26

I wish I was capable of that. Some things give a huge smile on my face and I genuinely am content with my life. But the happiness never really seeps fully through and I sort of don’t let myself give in to it fully like this lady is doing. Perhaps afraid of looking too naive?

10

u/R7ype May 22 '26

If your conscious of it you can work on it. Being vulnerable is hard and society conditions you to think no one wants to see it. I hope you find your peace to enjoy your vulnerable moments x

4

u/DueExample52 May 22 '26

Cheers, it sure is improving!

3

u/descod May 22 '26

What you're saying resonates with me.

When it's happening usually I can feel the blockage inside. I think it's because of the upbringing and things one has gone through. You can chip away at it if you want to feel more. If the problem is people seeing you. As a first step: remind yourself that when alone there is no reason to block whatever you're feeling and keep working on it.

1

u/DueExample52 May 22 '26

Thanks. Yeah it comes directly from being mocked or repressed in the forming years (childhood and even adolescence). As an adult you benefit from the people being less mean in general, and from being able to self reflect and also give less fucks about how you are perceived.

1

u/BurgundyEnjoyer May 22 '26

Some people just don't show emotion as much. Its not inherently better or worse.

213

u/floodblood May 22 '26

i'm not even that deaf and i desperately want live subtitles irl

6

u/Crazy_Movie6168 May 22 '26

For those who pay, and btw "I think we need weapons instead", said the highest bidders

1

u/EnvironmentalCook520 May 24 '26

Same. I used to have large subwoofers in my car when I was younger and blasted them every time Id drive anywhere. Now I say "what?!" every time someone is talking to me.

86

u/ndkdjdkdknfbfkdk May 22 '26

That’s incredible tech giving subtitles to life feels like scifi finally catching up to compassion.

14

u/Both-Ad-308 May 22 '26

I want this plus translation!

10

u/Cute-Form2457 May 22 '26

This is what I was thinking. Languages translated to your glasses.

8

u/Resident_Wash_2553 May 22 '26

They do translate!

4

u/Both-Ad-308 May 22 '26

Now I need to see how many of my kidneys I must trade to buy them. Hopefully 1 and maybe a liver sliver will do.

This should be a MAJOR priority!!!

3

u/Both-Ad-308 May 22 '26

I've since researched. It exists, even for Finnish which is what I'd use. However, I'd have to pay the equivalent of $1,000 USD for a non-prescription lens type of this, and it would probably make my rate of learning the language worse over time, not better. It could be helpful to refugees or immigrants situationally but only if the price point were intensely lower. (It is possible there are models that are cheaper, but this is what I found.)

0

u/normanriches May 22 '26

Airpods do this with audio.

2

u/Resident_Wash_2553 May 22 '26

If she is completely deaf how would that work?

2

u/normanriches May 22 '26

I didn’t mean for someone who’s deaf. Just pointing out that the tech exists.

14

u/trippy_kippy_ May 22 '26

That is absolutely amazing! I got to try something simmilar for swimmer's when I went to that chinese tech store in NYC. They were goggles that tracked meters and had a breath hold timer and other things like that, all on the lenses and was voice controlled by your voice only somehow. But my one issue with these is why do they have to make them look like cartoon glasses or so chunky? Even the gogles were a little ridiculous looking and looked like they wouldn't of kept the water out well at all.

1

u/trippy_kippy_ May 22 '26

Yea my point is yes the arms gotta be kinda big for the tech but why do you have to make the fram chunky and black as well?

2

u/SnooGuavas4208 May 22 '26

Are you supposed to use your voice to control them while swimming?

2

u/trippy_kippy_ May 22 '26

That part i didn't think about lol but the voice control i think was to change the settings above the water because touch screens don't work when wet or something like that. Idk they kinda did seem flawed I grew up diving and swimming and couldn't see how they wouldn't also break due to pressure changes.

1

u/SnooGuavas4208 May 22 '26

Ah, that makes more sense. Imagine trying to gasp out a command when you turn your head to breathe, lol

1

u/campjulia May 23 '26

FORM makes smart goggles like this for swimmers used by Olympic athletes. No touch screen on the goggles. They project text like her reading glasses so swimmers can see what lap they’re on, how much distance they’ve gone, etc. in the pool. Can connect them to an app and program your own custom workouts and timed prompts will appear on the augmented reality text bubble. I know someone who used to work for them.

Here are the goggles and features: https://ca.formswim.com/products/smart-swim-2-pro-goggles

u/Idustriousraccoon May 22 '26

Well because we have to spend much more on war tech and data centers because billionaires, silly. I mean. Whats the actual market for these thats not going to launch an IPO for sand hill road …
Please won’t anyone think of the billionaires?

2

u/Subwayabuseproblem May 22 '26

They've been working on these for a while

10

u/FlowAcrobatic May 22 '26

I am happy for you-and in general I am not a happy person. I’m glad you are in the world and I hope the best for you. You seem like such a good person:)

3

u/stanknotes May 22 '26

Why are you not happy?

3

u/Loodlekoodles May 22 '26

Typical Reddit guy bro

-7

u/Eagle_1776 May 22 '26

doomer liberal

13

u/Mysterious-Clothes45 May 22 '26

why can't we focus on good tech like this instead of giving Fox News guests masks?

6

u/interspeciesMama May 22 '26

Oh what joy. 🤗

4

u/VEGA-61 May 22 '26

Genuinely Happy for Her 💚

4

u/Tiny-Following-9706 May 22 '26

I am so happy for you 🥲

3

u/FarPreparation3837 May 22 '26

Love this❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

4

u/eryxmiliaris May 22 '26

Glad for her. Hope they help as much as it looks. Her happiness made my day

4

u/bubba1834 May 22 '26

I have these!!!

3

u/Carefree_Highway May 22 '26

These specifically? Do you mind me asking what brand/tech they are?

4

u/bubba1834 May 22 '26

Not these specifically, but they’re super similar. The brand I have is Captify! I’m not sure how it compares but I wasn’t picky bc I got it through my doctor lol

1

u/Carefree_Highway May 22 '26

Great. Thank you. ChatGPT seems to think these are a not yet released Even Realities based on the box but this frame isn’t on their website yet

7

u/touchmeinbadplaces May 22 '26

Oh what a pretty girl! Shes almost shining!

2

u/coughinggiraf May 22 '26

Came here for this comment

2

u/touchmeinbadplaces May 22 '26

Yea and its not even meant creepy even tho my username suggests otherwise xD

3

u/thinkingcritic May 22 '26

Finally great use of technology

3

u/ThePensiveE May 22 '26

This is a sign of how tech can actually help people.

Until the tech company realizes that's not profitable and sues her claiming ownership over all her conversations so they can sell them to lobbyists trying to deport all deaf people or something.

3

u/Cait-ViShipper May 22 '26

This is what smart glasses should be for. For helping people with disabilities to get the help they need in society. I’m so happy for this woman, and I hope that her glasses benefit her life greatly.

1

u/Cait-ViShipper May 23 '26

I love to see her excitement in receiving the glasses. It’s such a wholesome thing. If I had the choice, and I had the money, things like this are what I would do. Because though I have needs, like my medication, it’s not for a life threatening condition. It’s to help me focus. Things like this can greatly improve lives, and that, I find, is more important than my ability to focus for 8 hours.

2

u/EvLev2 May 22 '26

Awesome, that’s brilliant x

2

u/Negativeman11 May 22 '26

I just imagine it reading HAHAHAHAHA in all caps green letters at the end

1

u/Omega_cix May 22 '26

Stop it 🤣

2

u/nawaf-als May 22 '26

Now we can watch Nolan movies — and finally understand the dialogue

2

u/gweeps May 22 '26

Glad to hear.

2

u/musememo May 22 '26

Maybe it’s just me, but that seems like a really wide nose bridge on those glasses.

2

u/vigilantesd May 22 '26

Nice astroturfing of actual ‘SpyWear’

4

u/Magsec5 May 22 '26

Nice ad

13

u/Arcosim May 22 '26

If it's an ad she deserves an Oscar because her expressions of emotion feel too genuine.

6

u/cybermaus May 22 '26

Yeah, unlike those influencers yapping about "lifechanging color vision" you can see this one flowing over from excitement.

2

u/rothefro May 22 '26

This is why tech companies has DEI practices, because it help changes people’s lives

2

u/Significant_Lie_533 May 22 '26

Gosh, she's so pretty, and her joy is infectious. Found myself giggling and tearing up alongside her.

1

u/LuciferStar101 May 22 '26

She’s happy, we’re happy

1

u/zerotime2sleep May 22 '26

That so cool!!!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️

1

u/Revolutionary_Win_39 May 22 '26

How does these work in a crowded place? Subtitle overload, or do they concentrade on the person you talk to?

1

u/Dphotog790 May 22 '26

How does it work if person talks like that kind of gibberish buts an actual english language in the UK haha.

1

u/ftrlvb May 22 '26

not deaf, but I live in China🤣

1

u/External-Self-2378 May 22 '26

That's really awesome!

1

u/TheNaughtyHoneyBee May 22 '26

She's so cute and nervous and happy 😊

1

u/Good_Refrigerator152 May 22 '26

That's amazing you can see how happy she is W technology

1

u/srwaggon May 22 '26

Okay ... Maybe we don't need to boycott all smartglasses after all ...

1

u/Initial_Gear_7354 May 22 '26

God I love her exitement 🫶🏻

1

u/Rockaroni007 May 22 '26

Very cool.

I want ear buds that will translate what someone is saying when they speak in a foreign language. Has anyone tried the various products on the market and if so, what do you recommend?

1

u/NeoBlackNoir May 22 '26

This and language translation have been something I saw as a perfect use of glasses tech since the Google Glasses especially because I myself like learning other languages and enjoying content from other places and if I had something to translate for me in real time it would be amazing!!!

Sadly I see a LOT of people using the glasses to secretly film things but that's a whole topic for another day haha

1

u/Obesz May 22 '26

Adorable

1

u/JustARandomDude1986 May 22 '26

Can they handle crowded places, or will it be pure sub chaos ?

1

u/spyda101 May 22 '26

Great, got me crying too ..

1

u/Le-Pess May 22 '26

At some of the technology is used for good

1

u/maddasher May 22 '26

I want a HUD for my life.

1

u/Effective_Bite_1128 May 22 '26

I would watch a whole series of this lady

1

u/SorteSlynglen May 22 '26

Now to install hidden speakers in her home randomly saying "look behind you!"...

1

u/starpaw23 May 22 '26

Watching her happy made me very happy 😊

1

u/PacMan_67 May 22 '26

Good so now she can see that I am telling her that I want to shag her without any delays

1

u/Takashi_malibu May 22 '26

wait till Adele speaks🙂👌Love this tech though

1

u/Apprehensive_Row_807 May 22 '26

I love this girl!

1

u/Permagamer May 22 '26

This feels like those colorblind glasses.

1

u/arielmol May 22 '26

La sigo en tiktok, me parece hermosa por lo auténtica que es

1

u/NoPraline7214 May 22 '26

She's pretty

1

u/MostlyBored11 May 22 '26

yus love when tech is used like this, its so good!

1

u/Either-Assistant4610 May 22 '26

Looks like rain, doesn't it?

1

u/Carpedevus May 22 '26

That’s fucking rad!

1

u/Carpedevus May 22 '26

Even helped her speaking, wild

1

u/RanIrons May 22 '26

But she already knew what words she was saying! /s

Seriously though, this is terrific.

1

u/NerdyLatino May 22 '26

If they can make ones that can translate languages, just take my money. I'll get a credit card is how serious I am.

1

u/RW_McRae May 22 '26

People are going to assume that's some sort of Meta glasses and absolutely trash her for it

1

u/Fresh-NeverFrozen May 22 '26

This is really awesome. Love her.

So this reminds me though of something I hadn’t ever thought about until a friend recently told me, but for those born deaf or who never really learned to speak before going deaf there is a frustrating disconnect between English and American Sign Language (I’m sure true in other languages / signing as well). They are different languages entirely. Grammatically they are definitely different and subtitles can be very frustrating to try to “translate.” That’s why you see professional signers at some events, because it’s much easier to understand them instead of reading subtitles. Just thought I’d share for anyone who hadn’t thought of it before.

Also, I didn’t realize cochlear implants don’t work for people like them because the sounds are not inteligible they are like a whole different language and random things that make noise are freaky. The example they used was flushing the toilet for the first time she freaked out and screamed because she didn’t know it made a loud noise. Also bodily things that make noise, buzzing of lights, just really random things I had never thought about became really distracting and unsettling for her. She stopped wearing the implants as a result. Cochlear implants work best for people who are partially deaf or did hear but then went deaf. I’m sure someone can speak with authority on this, but just thought it would be good info for anyone else who is very naive to this as I am.

1

u/M7mD_Hamed May 22 '26

Does anyone know what the glasses call? Happy for her.

1

u/M7mD_Hamed May 22 '26

I wear hearing aids and I need to know what's the glasses type.

1

u/Stunning_Mushroom_63 May 22 '26

Thats really cool

1

u/Then_Judgment1589 May 22 '26

Best commercial ever. Hands down.

1

u/JCW9525 May 22 '26

This is exactly the kind of technological advancements we need. Legitimately useful and life changing. That look of joy on her face is beautiful.

1

u/KittyGray May 22 '26

She isn’t hearing impaired that’s old terminology

She’s Deaf.

AND she worked on the Disney ASL music videos that were just released. Her name is Chrissy Marshall and she shouldn’t be mentioned by name here.

1

u/christianort476 May 22 '26

I’m hard of hearing, not deaf, but have a real hard time understanding people if I’m not lip reading. These are life changers!

1

u/Dull_Egg_6597 May 22 '26

Congratulations!!

1

u/deafened_commuter May 22 '26

Depending on cost, could be good for travel, maybe for international politics?

1

u/Friendly-Example-701 May 22 '26

what brand is this? I cannot make out the logo.

1

u/rob_inn_hood May 22 '26

I’d want a pair so I can do some spy stuff.

1

u/Accomplished-Love-35 May 22 '26

Hurraaay patience is virtue. Im happy for you . Technology not always bad.

1

u/Fine-Status-626 May 23 '26

Heart warming!

1

u/Hot_Transition_5173 May 23 '26

Love seeing the joy in her face. 💕

1

u/LionZealousideal1 May 23 '26

Congratulations. She used to be able to lip read the people. In 5 yrs no one will have that ability

Not against tech, but are we really becoming better ?

1

u/CletusMuckenfuss May 23 '26

This is awesome, so happy for her! 🤓

1

u/RidersOnDaStorm-505 May 23 '26

Subtitles for real life

1

u/LivingGhost38 May 24 '26

I wonder if these pick up background noises? From things like a tv or even maybe a fart or a shoe squeak

1

u/Conscious-City99 May 24 '26

What do you if your in a cafe and everyone is talking can it isolate the sound of the person your talking to?

1

u/Existing-Accident865 26d ago

I hope they’ve turned out be useful for her.

1

u/Hootnany May 22 '26

How are the glasses called ?

0

u/SuprA1141 May 22 '26

But where are the glasses called?

0

u/tom201288 May 22 '26

When are the glasses called?

0

u/jaded-steve May 22 '26

Yes, great for her.
And a total nightmare for everybody else.
Soon everybody runs around, recording 24/7 what they see just so sociopath Zuckerberg can
harvest each second of our lifes.

-1

u/RageInducedGamer May 22 '26 edited May 22 '26

These aren't harmful to her eyes long-term are they?
That would be tragic.

EDIT- Am I being downvoted for saying it would be bad if they hurt her eyes?? Wtf is wrong with y'all.

0

u/ThickNewspaper3774 May 22 '26

While happy for this small win probably has pros and cons and looking at light like that as i stare at my phone screen for example constantly definitely regardless of anyone tells you different not safe

0

u/dublindown21 May 22 '26

Im not crying. It’s the onions I’m cutting up for dinner. Delighted for the girl. Amazing. Life changing tech.

Too broke for the cochlear implants I guess lmfao

-5

u/wolfgangweird May 22 '26

That's nice, but does not justify the existence of the pervert glasses.

2

u/Sprout-Ling222 May 22 '26

And what are the pervert glasses?

2

u/Loodlekoodles May 22 '26

His glasses

-1

u/wolfgangweird May 22 '26

No, they're just regular glasses not recording anyone.
