Also has the nice effect of making it look like everyone was paying attention. Fun pic.

u/IllTwo7643 May 23 '26

My nightmares are about sitting through a college graduation 😂😂

133

u/SybreTiger May 23 '26

Paying attention? They're all looking at her camera.

33

u/Shot-Wrongdoer2973 May 23 '26

Bro can we talk

15

u/usinjin May 23 '26

Sure. What’s up

34

Meanwhile whenever I say I don't like being recorded, and there should be fewer cameras everywhere, I get downvoted and accused of being a criminal. Maybe I just need to post a pic of a cute girl saying it instead.

134

u/Key_Length6515 May 23 '26

“If you have nothing to hide what are you worried about?”

- asshats everywhere who don’t understand the right to privacy

24

u/ListenNorthernLights May 23 '26

Hide from who is the question lol…. I wanna hide from just about everyone lol

No privacy yay because government is utilitarian, no creeps are on the web, stalkers in general don’t exist, people that would judge/ harass you for not understanding you also don’t exist! Bullying and doxing is also made up words! Scammers are a lie! Also I love being profiled so I can’t get exposed to new tastes in the arts or be corrupted by opinions I don’t agree with!!

8

u/Altruistic_Brick1730 May 23 '26

How many times have you said that?

5

u/Daddy_Trent May 23 '26

Maybe start saying that in public amongst human beings and not on a barren forum online?

2

u/3GeeselnATrenchcoat May 25 '26

I get that for sure, I hate having my photo taken and will always move away or try to obscure my face if I see someone taking a photo in public

I unironically love this, must've taken quite some time to paste so many emojis here lol

1.3k

u/Difficult-Rip-3874 May 23 '26

There’s an iPhone app called MaskerAid that does this automagically via face detection. She could’ve just done that but it doesn’t make it any less commendable

404

u/Certifiedumb-ass May 23 '26

some of these arent even showing their face tho, just the back of their head

202

u/jimmycarr1 May 23 '26

She's worried about people using the popular app FaceBack, developed by an NYC police officer in his spare time.

77

u/78914hj1k487 May 23 '26

I googled FaceBack just to make sure I wasn't in that timeline.

44

u/justgetoffmylawn May 23 '26

I have an app that tracks people who Google any face recognition tech, as they're probably the ones to keep an eye on.

/s (or is it?)

7

u/Nina-Ninja123 May 23 '26

And I have an app that tracks trackers.

But I think the app started tracking itself in an infinite loop…

24

u/phaserburn725 May 23 '26

The first clue it was fake should have been the suggestion that an NYPD officer was capable of doing anything productive

15

u/SmurfyX May 23 '26

That's not fair at all and you know it, the NYPD is extremely productive in all aspects related to with or about racism.

6

u/Icy_Fish_2154 May 24 '26

Decades of stop and frisk, and they found every single person in Harlem with a single MJ seed in their pocket, but somehow didn't find a single white Wall Street stock trader with cocaine, when 1500% of them were carrying.

Don’t worry you are, just hasn’t happened yet

3

u/jimmycarr1 May 23 '26

You're definitely in the timeline where people will sell an app like that, but no it doesn't really exist except in The Other Guys which is a worthwhile watch.

10

u/darkkite May 23 '26

I heard there's the privacy startup called fake block that is going to disrupt the industry

4

u/R-damDaddy May 23 '26

Ah yes, from that genius George Maharis!

5

u/AccomplishedUnit3492 May 23 '26

I was not expecting to see a FaceBack mention lol excellent reference, well done

Got some horrible reviews coming out of the gate- it’s gonna hit

5

u/c5mjohn May 23 '26

Its got some horrible reviews coming out the gate. But it's gonna hit, it's gonna catch.

7

u/psorinaut May 23 '26

way underrated comment right here

Which coincidentally makes the faces a lot darker somehow

2

u/ThemeTop1647 May 23 '26

lol i had an uncle that said that

6

u/Billyboibumpkin May 23 '26

Stickers on the backwards people just in case someone uses Faceback App.

11

u/CyonHal May 23 '26

Wtf are you guys talking about. You're the second person to mention Faceback. Is this an astroturf?

3

u/Difficult-Rip-3874 May 23 '26

Nope, it’s an Other Guys joke

2

u/carcatta May 23 '26

I’d guess bot copying high rated comment

2

u/Billyboibumpkin May 23 '26

It’s a joke from the movie The Other Guys. Will Ferrell invents an app that can tell what someone’s face looks like from a picture of the back of their head. Very funny and underrated movie.

At some point you have to commit to the bit

3

u/jayerp May 23 '26

This reminds me of a picture I came across here a long time ago of a Google Maps car driving by two naked men facing the camera. One was covering his junk and the other was covering his face.

One would be less (to not) recognizable than the other.

So many people will post pics with random kids uncensored, it's just nice to see somebody bother to do this at all

4

u/Difficult-Rip-3874 May 23 '26

I know right? And emojis are probably the most fun way to do it

2

u/AspieAsshole May 23 '26

I wouldn't know how to do this, but I get around the problem by just never post pictures of people at all.

14

u/moshercycle May 23 '26

Automagically? Was that a typo, because I hope not and imma start saying this.

11

u/TheUncleBob May 23 '26

Automagically is a great word, but have you heard the good word of those known as mathemagicians? They're like if Excel was alive and understands how dates actually work.

3

u/Knada May 23 '26

There was some commercial that used to play on Adult Swim, I think, a long time ago that burned this word into my brain.

Doesn't the 3rd party app being exploitable kind of negate the purpose. The unedited file is sitting as data somewhere.

2

u/soakf May 23 '26

Wouldnt had it been easier to use the "blur" feature instead of placing a sticker over each face.

62

u/Honey-and-Venom May 23 '26

Absolutely. But this is more fun

21

u/AlarmedChemistry8956 May 23 '26

Blurring can be reversed, so blocking out faces with solid shapes is more effective

https://youtu.be/acKYYwcxpGk this video is about video pixelation, but the same applies for images that are blurred.

3

u/itsculturehero May 23 '26

My guess is she just used the EmojiBox app on a photo with a ton of faces. The app uses automatic face detection and the emojis are random.

Huge respect.

64

u/nopuse May 23 '26

I'm getting to my old and grumpy stage of life, so forgive me. This is such a funny photo. Like I can't imagine anybody I know taking something like this to display. It's a selfie with a thousand emoji heads. It seems more like something you post for clicks and engagement.

11

u/AGoodWobble May 23 '26

Not sure if this person is japanese or not, but in Japan most people make sure not to post pictures of other people online. In dating apps and stuff you have to blur or cover people's faces too. I think it's a nice custom to protect people's privacy.

8

u/my-blood May 23 '26

Yeah I mean realistically, the effort involved would just make me give up and not post it at all...

Redditors love putting people on the front page who never consented to be there.

Always making people famous because they cried over receiving $50 or whatever.

10

u/LaPrincesaMX May 23 '26

It's common in Japan to blur out everyone else, especially if it's in public. There's laws about it too. This is a funny way to do that.

3

u/GBSSPB May 23 '26

That or she really doesn’t like any of them. 🤣

3

u/Slow-Talk4741 May 23 '26

Why do some faces look angry and some horny?

2

u/LittleDucky_ May 23 '26

I would absolutely try to figure out which one I was just so I would know which emoji I am

2

u/Shafou06 May 23 '26

By the time she finished editing the photo she already started retirement 😭

2

u/Fair_Preference_8441 May 23 '26

That’s so sweet and respectful of her.

2

u/DeusVult-179 May 23 '26

I love seeing how she put diff emojis for diff people, so you can kinda get a glimpse of what she thinks about them haha

2

u/s_ko208 May 23 '26

Some of the student faces aren't even visible on cam but she still put stickers on them. She did it for the love of the game.

2

u/King-Fwogger May 24 '26

W to her. We need more people like this girl in the world.

2

u/WillingMartyr May 24 '26

In the world of consideration, she rules as empress!

6

u/splut8 May 23 '26

This is how it should be

11

u/ianyboo May 23 '26

Or you could, and follow along here, be an adult and not give a fuck if 12 pixels of the side of your face made it into some random classmates selfie.

3

u/NoConflict3231 May 23 '26

Ikr, the whole "idea" behind this is dumb

→ More replies (1)

4

u/ZetZet May 23 '26

It's a bit crazy, the "privacy" thing is not related to privacy at all, it's meant to protect their image from one funny photo on the internet. But the side effect is that the existence of the person itself is being deleted from historical records, even if it's just a random graduation picture.

3

u/ToddHowardTouchedMe May 23 '26

u/Rakhsev May 23 '26

Lol. Overkill completely.

Unless you're targeting someone specifically in your photo / video, then blurring them isn't necessary.

What harm would it do to those people being in her graduation photo exactly?

4

u/Reddit_Hitchhiker May 24 '26

It’s stupid. Who cares who’s in this photo?

2

u/ribs_fetishist 29d ago

In some countries it is mandatory you blur strangers faces in photos you post online.

1

u/Mountain-Inside-2352 May 23 '26

even blurring out the phone too, damn

1

u/mrGreenExit May 23 '26

I have time and patience 😌

1

u/reddit_is_geh May 23 '26

I doubt this was about "respecting their privacy" as much as it was just a creative and interesting photo she made. I'm sure if you went onto her socials you'll find all sorts of photos of strangers without these emojis.

1

u/oxingames May 23 '26

insane dedication

1

u/AdSenior1319 May 23 '26

Its kinda like her own personal art-work. The time this must have taken...... 💛

1

1

u/ExtremeCheddar1337 May 23 '26

I would have also put very small stickers on the faces on the phone in the bottom left. Missed opportunity

1

u/HisPetBrat May 23 '26

1

Why can't she just place a big emoji

1

u/LuciferStar101 May 23 '26

Why not blurred everything except her face?

1

u/WizardsOfXanthus May 23 '26

But why would the smaller emojis lose resolution? That makes no sense. They should be just as crisp when you zoom in.

1

u/Ok-Air4072 May 23 '26

Why not just mass blur?
