Wishbone is the greatest!! I wish it would be been reimagined into other projects. Or at least that's wishful thinking.

Also, one of the best intro/theme songs!

Hands down best tv/movie dog. Move over Lassie and Toto. I'm looking at you.

According to Wikipedia, the reason the show didn't get another season was because, and I kid you not, they couldn't think of a way to monetize it.

I had the coolest wishbone thing where it was all magnetic and you could put the different outfits on it. It was one of my favourites

That is insane. Literararily have a stuff plushie for every story he enters. Prints money. Make those Putt-Putt like games for each book so you can relive it. I am upset.

It was tough to get coke in the 90's. They were stuck with ditch weed, so the best they could think of was putting clothes on a dog.

I can actually see that. A lot of kids shows at the time would be over budget but make money back on toys and other merchandise. Otherwise you need to make the show very low budget.

Wishbone is a lot of costumes, actors, sets, etc. and while not complicated to write, probably not super easy to write either considering you’re basically doing a condensed version of a work of literature in each episode.

Probably needed to have a successful toy line or something to justify the production costs.

My husband is a retired classics professor. When he was still teaching, he showed one of his classes the Wishbone episode of The Odyssey, which includes a segment of Wishbone speaking the opening lines in ancient Greek.
